Indeed, I've never seen such epic scenes in a movie before.

Generally Citizen Kane, The Rules of the Game, Vertigo and Tokyo Story seem to be considered "the best". That being said there is no "best" film and there should never be a "best" film.

Personally Citizen Kane isn't even my favorite Orson Welles picture, I prefer Touch of Evil and The Magnificent Ambersons.

Once Upon a Time in the West

Nostalghia

I can't really pick one movie that would qualify as the "best movie ever made" but one movie that really stands out is Forrest Gump. That movie is epic in a humble way.

Lord if the rings return of the king is my favorite.

There have been a few movies that really touched me. But when people ask about the best ever made i can't think of any. There's just movie on top of movie, and i always know there was one even better, but i can't reach it.

The first Pirates of the Carribean,
Snatch (though only once),
Caroline,
Alien,
Shawshank Redemption,
Up (ow come on the dog was fantastic),
i realllly liked how they did District 9 (though the plot was predictable),
Pan's Labyrinth was pretty cool,
and The three burials of Melquiades Estrada.
I loved the message in Yesman but the movie itself was okish. I still bought the movie just because of its message.

And i recently really enjoyed the movie called Moon.

And please people if You have more recommendations i want to hear them! I heard about Moon through one of You and it was pretty sweet!

I agree with Pan's Labyrinth. Its one of my favourites too.

Raiders of the Lost Ark or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, I can watch those movies over and over, still laughing at the funny parts and still be interested in the plot
