I guess Chill-out is pretty hard to describe, basically just any type of music that goes well with just sitting around, having a lazy day in the sun when you don't feel like doing anything. The band that comes to the top of my head is massive attack, mainly because a lot of the music I hear I never find out who it's by but I always remember that music video with the fetus.. Can anyone recommend me some good bands that would sort of be similar to them or fit the kind of style? A lot of trancy and techno stuff seems to be good (currently listening to one track called The awakening (mellow mix) by York- pretty up tempo but still suits the kind of style I'm going for) and also I find that a lot of Latin style music (mainly with that style of guitar music) is really great as well.

You might like Boards of Canada. They truly have a distinct sound. It's kind of ambient/electronic'ish.

Listen to the song "Consequence" by The Notwist. Also try some Iron & Wine. "Naked As We Came" and "Such Great Heights" are my favorites.

Thievery Corporation is amazing (Indra, All That We Percieve, Until The Morning (Rewound By Kid Loco), Shadows Of Ourselves...). Some Cafe Del Mar CDs are pretty good.

Certain styles of DnB can be good. I sometimes listen to some of my more "chill" stuff while studying/doing homework. Examples:

Muffler - "Hear Me Scream"

Calibre - "Alone In A Crowd"

D.Kay - "Chicks Love It"

I usually listen to some Biggie smalls. While it sounds kinda funny, some of his tracks are pretty chill and make good background music imo.

chill-out music would normally not have vocals for me. I listen to a lot of minimal (electro). Try Ricardo Villalobos- Dexter. Or RV- Easy Lee

My Bloody Valentine's Loveless album is very relaxing, as are Vespertine and Medulla by Björk.

It's a great album. Probably hard to track down the physical CD at a reasonable price, but it's apparently available digitally on iTunes.

The one I posted is track 3 on his album "Individual Soul."

The American Dollar - Anything You Synthesize

Moby - God Moving Over The Face Of The Water

Ametsub - Snowy Lava

Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent) (Leama & Moor Remix) (The original is of course great, but I think this remix is quite nice.)

Deadmau5 - Brazil

Deadmau5 - Creep (Those are pretty much the most relaxed songs you'll find by him, although his other stuff is quite good I might add.)
