Nirvana, I own all their CD's now and I read a biography on Kurt Cobain. Considering that I almost never read unless it's against my own will that's alot.. They're influencing me to start playing guitar..

The band in my sig and Gorillaz, only because i've been listening to them for a long time and I don't get tired of their songs.  But also because i've started listening to a bunch of other bands because of them.

Stevie Ray Vaughn is the one who inspired me to pick up and play a guitar. There are several other bands I could list, but I'm not going into detail.

Hearing Bon Jovi when I was six made me appreciate and start listening to rock/pop music.  Van Halen and Guns N' Roses made me into a head banger! :D

too many to mention w/o giving so little disregard....i'll put it this way: i love the 80's and 90's.

edit: oh yeah, and significantly probably doesn't fit in most cases considering.

Soundgarden - My first jaunt into rock

TOOL - My 'experimental' rock one

Incubus - Learned just how good music could be (and how bad it could sellout)

System of a Down

Disturbed - Favorite band

They Might Be Giants - Just because

Gravity Kills - Industrial needs to come back

Lots more to love, but these bands probably effected me the most. Not too stereotypical are they? You can tell I hit my musical taste in the 90's..not to date myself.

Nine Inch Nails. I first heard them back in 1996 when i was really bored with most of the music i was listening to, and was stuck in abit of a rut, the songs affected me and changed my outlook on what music could be. And so in many respects it impacted on my life. Also it gave me someone to look up to who has BiPoler disorder (which i also have) at that time it really affected my life.

Since that time I have seen them play live 3 times, met the band backstage once and own every single official release.

Though I don't like this bands alot they probably had a pretty big influence on my life.  Reel Big Fish was huge when I started listening to punk rock/ska, and alot of bands I liked probably wouldn't of got the recognition if it wasn't for their popularity.

Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies got me free booze at a party.

**** her gently" by tenatious D probably got me into trouble more than once (me and my roomate would sing it loud as hell, anywhere anytime when we were drinking.

Atreyu taught you that?! Fair enough...

I would say a band called Mahumodo, which I can't imagine many have heard of here, as they were a British band who were only together for a few years. Their music changed the way I looked at and played music from then on.

311 - They have had the biggest impact in my life.  They have taught me to always be positive and make the best out of every situation.  Plus they reveresed the brainwashing effects DARE had on me.  Now I DARE to think for myself.

Primus - They taught me it's ok to be a weirdo.  I'm a weird beardly that wouldn't have it any other way. "I am the anti-pop, I'll run against the grain 'til the day I drop."

Tool - They opened my third eye.  My spirit was laid dorment until Tool came into my life.

Very true.  One band I could point to very bluntly is Queensryche.  The first time I heard the song (and album) "Operation: Mindcrime", I couldn't wait to buy a bass and learn to play.  The bass riff in that song to this very day, (to me anyways), is killer.  ;)
