Do people still actually use T-Mobile? I haven't really met anyone in a while who uses it, to my knowledge.

Same, it is the majority in my area, AT&T has no reception as opposed to T-mobile that has just wonky reception.

Must be just around my area then that it's losing popularity. Most of the people around here seem to use Verizon or AT&T.

This is horrible news if it goes through. The loss of competition is never good. T-Mobile gave customers a low priced alternative to the over priced plans offered by AT&T and Verizon, not to mention the loss of jobs. Expect your cell phone and data rates to climb because of this.

It still has to get past antitrust regulations I think. The loss of competition is not a good thing at all.

yet here in the chicagoland area t-mobile service would frequently just cut out some days. it wasnt the greatest network leading me to the age old saying "you get what you pay for" now grated AT&T doesnt have the best network but after dealing with verizons customer service i dont mind AT&T at all. my iPhone is fast and i get signal where i need signal

LMAO...you made me laugh. Anyways, other then being p*ssed at this due to the lost of competition, I'm mad because I LEFT AT&T 4 MONTHS AGO for T-Mobile. Now I got to use a crappier customer service again. Errrrrrr...

T-Mobile is still going to remain an independent company, don't worry people. AT&T is just gonna own them but T-Mobile is still going to be a company. Their not getting the iPhone though:P.

I've actually switched to the Virgin (subsidiary of Sprint) plans to avoid the high cost of verizon and AT&T plans. If you're a relatively low talker, they have some really compelling no-contract plans.

You're not going to have any more "T-Mobile service". lol. I used to be an Alltel customer but when Verizon bought them out I was pretty much forced to get new Verizon phones and switch to Verizon plans.

ATT bought Cingular a couple of years back... lol. And yeah, it's a monopoly, but Verizon still has over a hundred million subscribers.

In what? GSM technology? Although the consumer is going to get royally screwed with this deal, but who was surprised? Sprint wasnt going to buy T-Mobile because they use a CDMA network, as well as Verizon.

I keep hearing about big companies gobbling up smaller ones a lot lately.

A few years from now I'm going to keep hearing about big companies getting broken up in antitrust hearings.

i use it too but only cause i used to use suncom which was bought out by t mobile. and i only used suncom cause of its old unplan deal. basically unlimited everything for 49.99 which turned into just unlimited calls. then i was going to switch carriers when i moved out here for school but t mobile looked up a special they apparently still had running when they bought suncom. i now for 49.99 get unlimited roaming in the US lol. 5 bucks for 300 texts(i dont text alot and another 5 bucks for a limited data plan which i dont use web on my phone much either) so over all with taxes id say its a pretty good deal for me personally. i know people that still use the original 29.99 unplan cause its contracted so they are forced to abide by it and all the contracts always have an auto renewal for the same price. plus if i ever have kids i can still add them to my unlimited plan for like 10 bucks extra a month lol. i really cant complain

I hope the FTC block this takeover. Having three major cell phone companies in the country doesnt help consumers. Less competition means less innovation, quality of service and higher prices.

Eh that's not good for me, I switched to T-Mobile a few months ago after 2 1/2 years of nothing but problems with Verizon's reception.
