If so, what for?

I'm not much of a hunter or anything, but I sleep with a Mossberg 500 under my bed strictly for home protection. I Live in what most would call a decent middle class neighborhood but it seems like we are having constant problems. My next door neighbors house got burglarized when they were gone recently. The thief took the spare key off of their wall and came back and stole their truck. My car has been vandalized three times the last year right in my driveway in the past year, and not too long ago I was woken up by police lights in my window because they were searching the bushes near my house for some night prowler. It's weird because to the naked eye my neighborhood seems pretty nice, most people are always shocked when I tell them about these things. I feel almost obligated to own a firearm to protect not only myself but my family if somebody tries to break into my house. Anyone else in OT feel this way?

I don't live in the U.S. so obviously I don't suffer from weekly house invasions. So no need for a gun.

What's that supposed to mean? I'm an Australian and I own four rifles, they'd be my first option for self defence if need be, legal or not. I'd prefer to end up in court than six feet under.

That's old news now.

They did ban a few games in the past, due to our stupid classification system. People complained about it, and the government fixed the system.

No, but I have family members that have owned and do own guns. I've shot a few in my life, but I have no interest in owning one myself. I have no problem with citizens owning guns, as long as they are using them for hunting, sports shooting, and home protection.

I don't like the idea of concealed carry, but I have to deal with it in my state.

My family currently has a .306 for hunting, a .22 rifle and a shotgun for bird hunting. Eventually I plan to have a couple hand guns and assault rifles for target shooting and home protection.

Why on earth is a bolt action gun your choice for shredding targets?

It may take some time but when I'm done with them they are pretty well shredded. I guess target shooting would have been more accurate.

I have a couple, all old military surplus from various nations. I'm working on buying an M1 Garand soon though.

I own them as a hobby. Shooting, cleaning, repairing, restoring, and then owning bits of history. I don't keep any of them loaded for self defense. I don't live in an area where that would be a precaution I need to take. I can leave my garage door wide open all day while I'm at work an my golf clubs are still there when I get back.

You don't have to own guns to survive.

That's easy to say if your from a good neighborhood. Try the east side of Detroit where the cops don't even feel safe and there is a 50/50 chance that they don't even show up if you call them..

yes, but I keep my ratchets locked away, i don't really like guns. In fact I havn't even looked at them in month's, maybe more than a year ago. There's absolutely no need for me to be picking them up unless I plan on using them. tbh, I rather use my martial arts training before pulling a trigger, any panzy can fire a gun. Over the years I'm finding more and more cowards are falling in love with guns.

Actually that can happen in the US as well, which is why any attorney would tell you to shoot a home invader dead

No, I'm not a gun owner, but I respect the right of individuals to own them. Kinda how I may not agree with a lot of opinions on various topics, but I respect the right and free expression of their opinion.

I collect C&R firearms so I do have guns. The guns I use for self protection at home are newer modern firearms though.

Yes Sir. I own a 30-06 and a 12 gauge shotgun. I like to go hunting big game as well as bird. I've gotten my fair share of dove and have killed a wild boar, cooked it and ate it. I've gotten close to getting a white-tailed buck but its hard hunting in California's Yosemite areas.

I have a few guns, not counting my service weapons. I have an AR-15 for target shooting, and a Glock 21 .45 ACP for protection.

I'm planning on getting a shotgun for my wife because she's not the greatest pistol shooter in the world.
