I was just wondering, If I was the only one. I love the books that are by Eric Nylund but the Flood by William C. Dietz just is too repetitive. I'm about 80% through the fourth book and I'm loving it so anyone with opinions on this please post :

I know what you mean.
Fall of Reach and First Strike are great.  It's amazing how detail and emphasis was put on the training of the spartans in the first one.
[QUOTE="Eadara"]I consider it incredibly dorky to read books based on a video game. towel_
just a casual poster. Don't really discuss much in the way of games. I don't even have a proper icon yet and gave myself a half-%^&ed signature.
Why bother when you can play the game?THE_DRUGGIEBecause Halo has a story? A large story? Maybe he's interested in it and wants to read it...not everything is covered in the game.
Because the books have much moore detail and do not follow the books in the game's exact story base unless you read The Flood which is awfull but the others are great reading and I recommend them to anyone with good taste for Scifi

But wouldn't it be smarter for Bungie to convert those books to scripts for Halo prequels/sequels? I mean, I like playing games, but reading books based off of a video game series comes off as obsessive...

They didn't have to rush it, did they? If they didn't they could've put long enough cutscenes in there, given that they did make an enormous profit from the first game....After all, they could start working on a well-polished prequel after the release of Halo 3, seeing as Bungie will most likely have an unbelievable amount of money from both Microsoft and themselves...

But if you compile all of the cutscenes from MGS3 together, you can get a 3-hour movie...

How is this spamming? Voicing my opinion on how I feel about the Halo books (which is relevant to the topic, by the way) is not spamming. If you really wanted me to stop talking about this, you could've kindly told me to not get too far into this conversation...I see that you might eventually get too picky about this topic, so I'll do myself a favor and stop posting in it.....Sheesh...
[QUOTE="Eadara"]I consider it considerably dorky to read books based on a video game.v3n0m111
thats what alot of people think, i did myself for awhile as well. but if your dorky enough to play the game, whats wrong with a book. and fall of reach is a very good book. has a story and alot of combat in it. there is nothing dorky about it besides it being sci-fi.Â
Having read the books it is amazing of the detail of the enhancers put in the SPARTAN IIs and the SPARTAN IIIs but I have wondered about the first spartans were they just reg soldiers in Mark V armor or what? The first spartans were Greek soldiers from thousands of years ago. :)

Yes i've read all 4. As stated the 1,3 and 4th books are all very good. The one by Dietz was a disaster as it was pretty much a given that he was playing the game a little and then writing what he just did. Even the enemies in the book were in the exact same location as they were in the novel.. Pathetic.Yeah, I didn't really like the ending. I was really confused...
Beyond that the Nylund books were very good, but I was disapointed with the cheese factor at the end of Ghost of Onyx. Still a good book but they took it in a dumb direction.
