I'm all eyes for any legitimate argument whatsoever.

I'm honestly starting to believe it's some kind of conspiracy.

Well, marijuana is still illegal because it has yet to be legalized. That's about as valid an argument as you will find.

Because big business, tobacco and alcohol, don't want it legalized (more competition).

Maybe because its a drug? You think that if Alcohol and Tobacco were still illegal they'd legalize them today?

To me, it's ridiculous, because any intelligent person I ask that question to says, "It should be legal"

So the federal government can destabilize the **** out of Mexico, and then have a pretext for establishing a military presence there and perhaps eventually taking over the rest of Mexico.

Okay, maybe that's not the idea, but I don't consider it an entirely far-fetched scenario anyway.

Ok, so what if it's a drug, so is advil, and tylenol, and aspirin, it doesn't matter, the government has no right to deny people freedoms, as long as they don't impose on other people's freedoms.

I kind of agree with you, not only that, but also all the people that benefit from it being illegal. High level drug dealers want it to stay illegal because if it were legal then they would not make any money, for example.

That's probably a factor of it, on that same note, the cotton farmers in the United States, probably still don't want it legalized.

In the same way that Alcohol is dangerous. I never said it was fair, I'm just telling you why. The government already has attempted to illegalize, and tax alcohol out of existence, so we know that it wouldn't be legal if possible.

I wouldn't protest legalizing it for free use in one's private home so long as there is no children in the household, and so long as one cannot smoke it, grow it, ect. in public places. Make a lot of restrictions, and I'm there for your right to screw with your body.

There's still a large (I'd say majority) segment of the voting population that thinks of marijuana as a "bad drug" and will view an attempt to legalize it as an advocation of "bad drugs", and as a move that only benefits current drug users. I don't doubt that there is some degree of influence from tobacco corporations, but I think the larger problem is that the voters are simply against it.

It should be legal. Just think of all the uses we could have for hemp. We could really use the tax money too.

Thats great, but either way your ability to think is impaired when you're high.

Anyway, I thought the point of this thread was to show why its illegal. Anybody can figure out why its illegal, what you wan't to know is why people dislike it.
