  1. Angel Has Fallen - $21.2 Million (new release)
  2. Good Boys - $11.7 Million
  3. Overcomer - $8.2 Million (new release)
  4. The Lion King 2019 - $8.15 Million
  5. Hobbs & Shaw - $8.14 Million
  6. Ready or Not - $7.5 Million (new release)
  7. The Angry Birds Movie 2 - $6.3 Million
  8. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - $6.0 Million
  9. Dora the Lost City of Gold - $5.2 Million
  10. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - $5.0 Million

What a dead zone of a August month and barely any good movies couldn't pass $50 million mark, but then again, Angel Has Fallen did quite well. This is a weird franchise that decreases the budget every movie. Olympus was $70 million, London $60 million, and Angel $40 million.

The combined budget of the trilogy is only $20 more than the similar White House Down that was released the same year as Olympus. Didn't see anything this weekend but will go see Angel Has Fallen later on.

August 23-25 mojo's box office weekend

Guilty pleasure: I love the "______ has Fallen" movies. Gerard Butler isn't an amazing actor by any means, but he is fun to watch and plays the badass well. Between this series, Law Abiding Citizen, 300, and, yes, even the budget-but-good Geostorm, I am a fan of his.

I never understand why August is consider the deadzone month? Every August is always the lowest for blockbusters hit movies.

Because by that time, everyone is either getting ready to go back to school, or making end of summer plans. Most August movies are either stuff that won't fit in the already crowded prime months (May thru July), or stuff that's bad, but still might have a chance at some profitability.
