I dont stereotype with the rest of the globe, The whole emo/goth thing is unnecessarily played out to such an extent that you cant even say you had a bad day without some ignorent and unoriginal dumbass calling you an emo. to be honest, its a completly ubsured stereotype, emo means EMOtion. everyone has emotion, therefor everyone is emo. and if you have no emotion, or at least a small amount, then your called a cold uncaring bastard (a lot like me).

So basically your saying that a person who dresses all in black, or a person that decides to be more open with their feelings is wrong, but a bunch of annyoing wannabe tough boys that thinks tattoos make them tough (Punks) are right? Seems a tad biased to me, but hey whatever floats your boat.

I honestly couldnt care less what anyone thinks of me, I'm an assh***, I'm a bastard, and yes I am a prick so deal with it, get a life, and move on with it!

[QUOTE="Beaman"]you just fit into your own stereotype.Mikey132

How so? I sometimes refer to myself as a punk because I share the original ideals. DIY, anti-fashion, anti-conformity, etc. I also enjoy a lot of the music. But I hate the scene and the fashion whores. Being "punk" means nothing to me. I could just as easily say I don't conform, or that I'm rebellious, but I find that I get fewer annoying questions when I just say punk.

Why don't you just be yourself insted of trying to classify yourself as something.....Life is much more enjoyable that way.  I listen to so many different kinds of music you couldn't classify me in any group, which is just the way I like it!

That's my point... I'm not part of the scene. I listen to all kinds of music, as well. I just say I'm a punk when I don't feel like talking about it. When I say "Oh, I just don't conform at all", 2 hour discussions always follow. I always end up talking about religion, politics, morals... all because of that. But when I say "Eh, I'm kind of a punk," that's the end of the discussion, and I don't have to spend 2 hours talking about myself. Honestly, who wants to do that everytime they meet somebody new?

I'm the kind of person that has characteristics of them but is completely different from them. like FDR and Hitler both great speakers, one was just very sadistic.

[QUOTE="Samwel_X"][QUOTE="aus_pride"]

[QUOTE="Samwel_X"]I am too old to have ever been an emo. At school I was called a Goth, however, i wasn't a Gothy goth... meaning I wasn't madly into the cure and people (although i do like them now) I was (and to some extent still am) more of an industrial Goth with all my black, Doc Matens and chains. aus_pride

Did i give you permission to post in the same thread as me?

I don't need your permission.

 Socialism says you do!

I think you mean intolerance and discrimination says you do....you dont even know what Socialism is probably.

Seriously, I dont particularly like Emo's, but for me the stereotypes dont really exist, theyre made up. Its the fashion and the whole hair over one eye thing I cant stand. But I dont like trendies either. I wear what I want and act how I feel I should, like most adults (im 21 later this year).

Its all about fashion sense, not actual people. For the record, I actually like gothic chicks, I think gothic women's fashion (like check skirts and wristwarmers)  can be pretty sexy and cute.

Well said man. I would just call myself a Rocker, out of convenience. Sure I wear band t-shirts and wristbands, denim and leather as well as listen to quite a bit of rock n metal, but I like soul, blues, jazz and have many clothes that look extremely generic and dont really fit into a stereotype.

At the end of the day, what I really am is too complex to try and describe without telling someone my whole life story.

I'm friends with an emo kid at school but i'm not emo. I don't think people should hate them when they don't know them well.

Whats wrong with being goth?

1. There music is awesome.

2. They dont care what people think and wear what they want(black).

3. Not everyone that looks like a goth is one, i actually get mistaken for one, and im actually really nerdy.

I should slap you for saying your  the only one, then i should post a forum saying "am i the only non prep on this planet" Without all the types of human we wouldnt be what we are today.

People who dress emo will not say they are emo, because that is totally like, conforming.  Even if they dress, look, act emo, they'll say they're not.

I'm neither. Some people think I'm emo when I have my hair long (it is so straight that I don't have any other choice then putting it to the side), but I'm really not.
