That about sums it up. I can't decide if I like it more than Section.80 yet though.

That's where I'm at but at the rate I'm liking it I'm sure I will. Section .80 took a while to grow on me while this is immediately appealing to me.

This is definitely going to be an AOTY contender for me.

Yeah, I was bumpin Sec.80 for months before I drifted off to other things, it's too early to tell if this album will be able to sustain a similar sort of replayability. Not too crazy about Poetic Justice and Compton, however everything else was great. AOTY contention is between this and R.A.P. Music for me. Also disappointing that it lacks appearances from other key TDE members like Q and Soul, instead we get Dre and Drake (albeit their good perfomances).

amazing album. it's just crazy to me that this is a huge Aftermath/Interscope release...it really shows the changes that hip-hop is going through. Aftermath albums have traditionally always glorified violence (Em, 50, NWA [even though it's not aftermath, but you know]) and this is basically a conscious hip-hop album. I love the story throughout the album too. Such a great album This or the new FlyLo for AOTY

The two tracks that share the title are the standouts for me. This album is quite the thing overall.

All things considered, I'm pretty ascertain this is going to go down as a hip hop cIassic whether or not that's the consensus we have.

This album is amazing though. On point. It's pretty amazing that an album with a different producer on each track sounds so uniform. Not one weak joint on here.

Word

I loved the Shyne line in that song too; way too good.

I'm looking forward to the album these guys are trying to put out. Cole to me is as good a producer as he is a rapper and Kendrick murders his beats. I got high hopes.

at first i thought maybe this album could compete for my rap AOTY and land itself firmly in my top 15, if not my top 10.

through the second and third listens i'm not so sure. going to have to listen to it more.

It's a good album but madly overrated. Kendrick's a pretty good lyricist though. The project with J.Cole could be insane if it's on the same level as Jig is Up

i really just can't understand where these people are coming from that call Kendrick overrated....honestly, what more do you want? he raps about real ****, has a flow better than anyone else out right now, has created his own original sound and style, has great producers behind him, honors hip-hop's past while still pushing it forward, etc. seriously...i think it's absolutely great that he's getting all the attention and praises that he's gotten recently, it shows that people still want REAL and GOOD music. he is what Lupe should have been.

Greatly disliked his voice on Section 80, but I think the production and the over the top extended choruses and layered vocals suits it fine on this album, so I like it here.

I mean, the voice is never a problem imo. It's never unbearable. It's just not a selling point imo...and if it was I may be more inclined to enjoy his flow. So there's that. I like K dot, but I'm not infatuated with him like most people are.
