i checked on the american bestbuy site and the wii is 249.99$ US, then checked on the canadian bestbuy site and the wii is 289.99$ CAN

thing is, 249.99$ US is not 289.99$ CAN but 265.54$ CAN

so im just asking, do they think canadians are suckers or something ?

ok you really dont know what youre talking about 'cause first they didnt raise the price recently its been at 289 for a while now. and second they didnt raise the price, it jumped from 275 to 289 because of the canadian dollar who dropped. but now that the canadian dollar is up at .94, im asking what the hell are they waiting to drop the prices. and by "they" i dont mean nintendo, i mean bestbuy and futureshop, etc

289? Wow, I got it on launch for 279! It didn't bother me much, it's still cheaper than the other systems, which is awesome!

A comic that's 2.99 in America is 3.75 in Canada

They pay more because it's Canada, there's no exact science just breaking it down to what the dollar is worth at any given time.

jack00

sorry buddy but the comic shops charge the US price in canada because marvel/dc or whatever the publishers is dont bother looking at what its really worth in canadian $

we dont pay more because "its canada", its all about the currency rates, ppl if you are just gonna post stupid thing here just please, dont bother youre only making fools of yourselfs

It's more then currency rates, if it wasn't you wouldn't have made this post.

I love that you won this argument FOR me, thank you for letting me take it easy on a Sunday. Or did you make a post somewhere else complaining that it's not Sunday there either?

I mean you're the one saying that publishers don't care what they get for the books because they can't be bothered to look, heck go to your local Best Buy and ask if they want to do the same thing!

You think Nintendo's ripping people off?

The 360 is $399 or $499 in Canada

When it SHOULD be - $317 or $423 converted from the American pricing system.

That's a huge rip-off!

i think its only futureshop/best buy that raised prices for BOTH PS3 and Wii. Otherwise, it was 279.99 for a Wii.

i doubt it will get changed. However, it is strange considering how high the canadian dollar is now. its like 94.4 or something, almost as much as 1 american dollar.

i live in canada and well currency for prices of goods isnt what its all about

i remember a report done my cbc 2 years ago

they asked many companies why the prices of goods was different in the US and Canada

most of the prices were higher in canada even with the currency changed

why ? all the companies had plenty of reasons but the one common theme was canadians were willing to pay that price.

the price they used was the mean price for companies seeing that they could make the most profit in canada, and it was higher than the US.

so its not all about yeah the CAN dollar went up let us adjust it to match the US.

its only 289 at some places. others still have the 279 price. same with the ps3. only some places upped the price when the dollar weakened..

of course, the same companies didnt drop the price when the dollar strenghtened.

How would you feel if your boss started to pay you less because our dollar went up? We get the same pay check and the prices are the same, the only bearing that the worth of our dollar has on shopping right now is internationally.

Uh huh sure

Oh what do we have here? It's the American and Canadian prices for a sub to Nintendo power

So as we see the price of a periodical is NOT the same nor does the company not bother to charge a different rate.
