Why isn't wii getting any perfect tens?

I think this site is only awarding tens to games that show they're the best of the best when it comes to what this generation is offering. So if you don't have HD graphics, great online and of course unique gameplay then you're not getting a 10.

I feel that Mario Galaxy deserved a 10, but because it didn't have HD graphics or online play, they didn't feel they should award it a score that would mean the best of the best from this generation.

That's how I see it anyways. This is the reason why I think no Wii game is going to get more than a 9.5.

True, but mario and zelda have been remade more than 4 times, and they are IMO nintendos best franchises.

There have been only 4 3D zeldas and only 3 3D Marios, all of which date back to the N64. :/

Just because the IP has been around for 20 years doesn't mean its been rehashed more than the more recent games.

It's better off if tens remain very rare anyways. Games that get 9.5 are usually deserving but if that score was bumped up to a 10 then the game is now considered overated.Lyphe2k

There have been more than 4 MGS and GTA if you count MGS Acid , Acid 2 , Portable OPS , Portable Ops Plus and GTA Liberty City and Vice City Storeys.

Because Gamespot doesn't want to. Mario Galaxy got many many perfect 10s from other sites hence the 97% average and second highest rated game of all time on Gamerankings. It's probably the closest the Wii will get to a 10 however MotionPlus has huge potential to make much better games.

I can't believe people are forgetting Vice City and San Andreas...

There have been 8 Marios, 7 Zeldas and 6 GTA games (not counting hanheld variation or spinofs of any of the three).

I can't speak for MGS4 because I've not played it but as for GTA4, the reviewers here at GS and other places were clearly drunk with hype. That's the only way I can explain why a game that does almost nothing different than its predecessors can get a 10.

MP3 should've gotten a 9.7 (damn GS and rating system), and thats coming from a non-fanboy bias (I hope).

SMG deserves a 10, though. The game is perfect in just about every way. Who cares if it doesn't have online? Would you want to make a squad-based Zelda?
