Why hasn't Wii upgraded it's console like the other 2 systems?

Like PS3 Slim and 360 slim. Out of the 3 the Wii is the one that needed an upgrade the most in the first place, since it has no dvd player, no HD, no internal memory. I'm not saying they need to make a Wii Slim, but just any new model of the Wii that has at least a hard drive and dvd player, and HD.

That would be a whole new console. The Wii is capable of DVD playback actually. The PS3 and the 360 only got remakes, new looks, no upgrades really other than storage space. Nintendo Wii is perfectly fine the way it is.

The Wii has always had internal memory but the amount of memory is by no means as large as its competitors. However, the SD Slot allows for excellent memory expansion.

Also, the Wii doesn't need DVD capabilities considering a lot of people have multiple DVD players in their houses.

And HD isn't a necessity.

Which it needed to begin with...

you want dvd playback? Why? the world revolves around Blu-ray now. But yes, I would agree with you, Nintendo should just release a Wii HD, but since the wii still sells like crazy, there is no need for Wii HD from Nintendo's perspective.

wii has been upgraded, twice. black and red. just like the other consoles it's only cosmetic. even though the slim added built in wifi it's not like you could not connect the xbox over wifi before.

HD is impossible with the current wii hardware and who doesn't have a DVD player?

You have a point, but Nintendo wants to ensure 100% compatibility so there won't be any hardware upgrades untill the next console. Maybe they will make a new controller upgrade or whatnot.

Nintendo is probably going to fix everything that is "wrong" with the Wii in the next gen console. Which is really kinda pathetic, since many of the upgrades will be things that existed in the current generation on other consoles.

Two reasons I think: 1. because the wii doesn't need any of that. I mean an HD console would be completely new hardware. It would no longer be the Wii. 2. because the other systems want to make this gen last as long as possible so they HAVE to upgrade their systems.

Think about it, whats the point. The wii is selling like crazy the way it is and will continue to do so. They will address probably all those problems you listed once they make their next gen console.

The other consoles have HAD to do that to try and improve sales, Nintendo has not had to. And besides, when has Nintendo EVER done that with one of their consoles?

Nintendo generally doesn't release new versions of their consoles. Not that a new version of the Wii needs to be released. HD isn't compatible with any of the Wii's current hardware or software, so what would be the point?

This should belong in System Wars due to the thread opening up discussion to the other consoles.
