What if 3DS games cost about $50? Would you still buy them?

The good thing about DS games IMO were that they were somewhat cheap to buy. Games were usually around $30-$35. But, they were at times very short. Is there a chance the 3DS games will cost more? I mean, they're graphically better, and the games might be longer. Would you buy the 3DS if games at times cost about $50 or more?

If games cost around $50, that would be somewhat like consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360. I mean, if you want high graphics, and plus have a big screen TV, might as well get those consoles, right? Sorry, i could be wrong, but i'm just talking about what i think is true.

Well a lot of people use their portables for travelling/while they are not at home. If you have a perfectly good PS3 or 360 with a big screen tv I don't see why you'd want to sit there and play the DS.

that would be difficult to me, i have lots of systems, and i cant go around buying each game for 60+ dollars. so i guess if i got the 3ds and they cost that much, i would only get games thati really want, or just wait till they get a price drop.

I've ever seen only 1 game that was $50 in Canada, and thats Drawn To Life 2. Everything else is in the 30-35 dollar range; with the exception of some RPGs which are $40, and Mario Kart for $45.

Yeah I would, I mean since I was willing to spend $60 on a game like Alan Wake, a game that was so short with little re-play value.

If it's a good game, of course. Though I don't think it would be that high. Games are getting cheaper to produce as technology progresses after all.

DS games usually start at £25-30 (£30 = about $45-50 USD) in the UK, sometimes going up as high as £35 (like the last Pokemon game), but I'm rarely willing to pay that much unless it's a really great game. I think £20 is a fair price for the better handheld games. I'm hoping the prices don't go any higher than the current standard though.

I probably spend about the same amount of gaming time at home (possibly more) on DS and PSP as PS3/Wii. :P Different sorts of games on the different types of consoles - there's nothing like P3P, The World Ends With You etc available on any of the home consoles.

I wouldn't mind paying extra as long as the games are home console quality. If the games had the production values of GTA4 or FF13 than sure, it's justified. But if we're talking 50 bucks for Cooking Mama 3DS than count me out. I didn't mind paying extra for PSP games (when PS2 and Xbox classic were king) so 3DS should be no different.

I'd buy less of them on release, but I'd still get Animal Crossing cause I know I'd definitely justify $50 with how many hours I'd put in it. I'd probably get Ocarina of Time as well cause I heard that lengthy and I'd probably play it at least twice.

A lot of DS games are already $39.99 here in Canada - specifically most Nintendo titles. Hell I still remember seeing M&L: Partners in Time going for $49.99.

Truthfully, only a few. They must be 8.5 or higher. There shouldn't be a reason why they cost as much as a regular console game...

I'm no expert on this kind of stuff, but if you figure that LOZ OoT is a long game, and graphically enhanced, that would make it somewhat equal to, for example, PS3 and Xbox 360 games, right? DS games in the past were cheap, but they were also short, and not graphically as powerful as present console games. Therefore, it would make sense to charge more for 3DS games, which some have said are graphically equal to the game cube and the wii. Now we are talking about games which have much more to them than regular DS games.

Yeah, considering its still an handheld game, it should cost no more than $40. Depends on what media 3DS games will be played on. Even if knowing the media, if a handheld game still cost over $50, the only way I'll consider buying it is if the game gets 8.5 and up. Otherwise, I'll be waiting on a price cut. I'd rather pay over $50 for a Wii game than a handheld game.....

That's what i'm thinking. I'm not rich, so a 3DS game with a high price might discourage me from buying the system. Also, will September 29 also reveal the average price of 3DS games? That would be a nice heads up also, so that i might decide before the handheld comes out whether or not i would buy it.

I would buy a 3DS game for $50 but that would be the only one I get for a long long time. I would have to wait into to get it cheaper or used from GameStop. The one game that I would get wouldbe a zelda game or something that I knew was going to be worth it.

Surely, the price will be higher then the DS Games. But i think it won't be about $50. Most of the games may cheaper around 30$, only few games will over 50$, i guess

That's a pretty good question.

I think that most gamers probably will pay higher prices for improved graphics and features. I don't think consumers would have paid $50.00 for every DS game this gen, but they have paid $40.00 for some games already. Because the 3DS will have GCN-quality graphics, I think the console die-hards will be willing to take handheld gaming more seriously and maybe give the 3DS a spin. They'll be willing to pay almost as much as they pay for a retail console game, on their handhelds.

That's the issue. If the 3DS games cost a lot, i might as well buy a PS3 or XBox, and be able to play on my TV.

Sepewrath told me about the game preorders that are on amazon.com. RIght now, MGS3 is about $34.99 for preorder. That is good news, IMO. Maybe those games won't be that expensive as i was afraid they would be.

I don't think anyone knows the price of the 3DS games so Amazon just put up $34.99 which is the price of most DS games.

only on games with tons of replay value, like animal crossing and mario kart. that would justify spending the extra money. but $50 is too much. should be closer to $40 if they expect to sell a lot of games.

i already pay $100 for them, i'll probably keep paying the same price (it's amazing how prices are handled here. PSP, DS, wii, PS3, 360, everything costs $100), i don't really care for the price as long as it's good.
