is the XL that much heavier that it limit your play time when playing non touch screen games ?

I have a DSi and i'm well aware that the xl is superb and much comfortable when u lay it on a surface playing touch screen games like Layton or Zelda.

That aside, for those games that require the use of d-pad and ABXY buttons like Castlevania, New Super Mario bros , Mario Kart etc etc etc ....... does the extra weight causes wrist strain when playing for long hours ?

Some of the reviews said it was quite heavy compared to the DSi, maybe an extra few ounces from charles barkley's cupcakes and that's the only factor that was holding me back from upgrading to an xl .

So i would like some inputs from u peeps that previously owned a DSi and has already upgraded to the fat ass XL , Nintendo Fanboys included.

Much appreciated for the help guys, advance thanks for any sincere inputs. :)

It is a bit heavier and sometimes your hands get a bit tired. Nothing major but your hands will suffer a little more fatigue. I never set it down and only used the touch screen, its a handheld.. you hold them lol :P But anyway I know what your saying, I just never did it myself - uncomfortable playing like that.

The screens are nice, a tiny bit more immersive.. but after using it for months I wished I had the dsi again because after the wow factor went away it lost some of the charm of being a handheld, meaning it was too big. I didn't mind at first but it just started feeling less like a handheld and more like a hybrid lol! Yeah just my opinions.

On a side note, I'm getting a 3ds and I am glad the screens aren't as big as the XL. The screens are nice, but they come with less charm and a little more weight.

Well...if you can't handle the weight of the XL then, wow. Secondly, if you hold it and use it long enough you will do this thing called getting a workout and it will result in the muscles building up and you not even noticing the "strain" anymore.

I noted it was nothing major but noticeable. Leave it to a kid or a fanboy to completely turn something around.

Yeah, cause in his prime Schwarzenegger suffered from "repetitive stress injury" and he dealt with it terrible. I go to the gym for two hours every day of the week and I know my body just feels awful.

In other news...people are complaining about a handheld that weighs a few ounces.

Complaining? u're either dumb or dont freaking know how to read. It was something to be thought of due to the fact i had a lil operation on my ring finger a while back. Well, at least i got useful info from Nophoria and btw thanks for nothing.

But be fair. You didn't say anything about having a problem with your hand. Your first post made it seem like you were seriously worried about the extra weight of an xl for no special reason.

The problem here is i'm being accused of complaining. There's a difference in the word COMPLAIN and WORRY or CURIOUS. Here's the point. In which part in my original post was i complaining about the excess weight? Do enlighten me.

C'mon guys, TC has a point and there is nth wrong for asking that sort of question.:o

From my POV there isnt any complaints in the main post. That said........ i myself stepped on up to the DSI XL from the ori DSI & from my personal experience i could noticed the xtra heaviness and only if i used it for more than an hour playing action games or my mario kart....... my hands definately felt the fatigue and strains compared to the ori DSI ... which i've no problem going straight for over 2 hours.

So there u go......... all in all , the XL is still a very worthy upgrade due to the massive screen and not to mention, the improved sound! :D:D:D:D:D:D

dsi xl

Much thanks for your input regarding the xl . Guess i'll have to sacrifice the larger screen and better sound for comfortability for now.

I went from the PHAT (original) DS to the DSXL. Doesn't bother me much - and I'm old with more than a touch of arthritis. I play for several hours a night. When I get tired I rest it on my stomach and keep playing. Since the screens are large I can see everything quite well.

OMG are u kiddin me? Unless u are truly dante666 or else this whole 'complaining' thing doesn't even have to do with u. Check who am i quoting and since when did i say u're accusing me of complaining? Unless dante666 is your main or alternate account, then rest asure that u have nothing to do with this fuss.

I noticed no difference really between the DSi and the XL in terms of weight. Hands don't get strained or anything. Feels fine to me.

Wow. So now you resort to accusing people of being the same person, when we didn't even say the same thing. You quoted me. If you don't remember, you can scroll up a bit. Please also be aware that you are posting on a discussion forum. If you post something, anyone here can comment on it, so please don't tell anyone what their business is or isn't.

But don't worry, I have no desire to continue watching your hissy fit.

There u go. So u surely do feel the heat too when being accused for having 2 accounts. Sure, most peeps doesn't like to be accused.

My main post is to acquire a clear view whether the extra weight will cause any discomfort during gameplay and in came this dante666 guy and out of the blue accusing me of COMPLAINING? This so called " COMPLAIN " doesnt even exist in my main post and trust me i wont go into MAD mode unless something falsely accused me like what the DMC fanboy did. And so here u barged in and said it's my fault for not mentioning the mini operation on my ring finger and thus leads to the dude that accused of me of COMPLAINING was justified? Gimme a break.
