That's just what the 3ds needs right now more good games, I bet Vita fanboys are still gonna discredit it though because its a remake.
There is nothing new besides the time attack mode and multiplayer power ups. Remakes need more than just a coat of paint. The game is still cool, but I would not call it a killer app.
Needs to be 2 points lower for no wifi play. What reasoning is there to not putting it on there? Family 3DS time!?ZumaJones07That's quite simple. Nintendo just hates trying to support networks that allow for online games.

It does have Wifi play though...
just not world wide multiplayer, only local.
Can't argue. I can't believe IGN gave what is little more than a barebones port a 9. I can't believe anyone is actually going to buy it, it's just giving Nintendo the thumbs up that lazy ports are okay. There is nothing new besides the time attack mode and multiplayer power ups. Agreed.
As much as I was excited for OoT3D, I don't see myself playing it again after completing it. I doubt it'll be any different with SF643D.

actually im playing OoT 3D again and plan to play a third time on master quest. Im not even the kind of gamer that usually replays games.
Lacking online mulitplayer is bad.....
Does it atleast have LAN multiplayer?!?
If not, I will be skipping it unless I can find it less than $15. I won't pay full price for a game that should have online multiplayer but doesn't, that is for sure!
It kinda seems like I will be skipping it until it is super cheap.
I'll end up getting this, but probably not in September. HaziqonfireSame. I'm going to wait on this one.
Debating about whether to pick this one up new or buy used since I already have it on the N64 and Virtual Console (Wii). Although I have OoT on many platforms as well, it just seemed like a remake with much longer lasting appeal and a bigger overall package to justify the $40 price tag than a game like SF64 3D would.
Even if it had wifi, I'd still wait. But if anyone's yet to play the previous versions and owns a 3ds then there is no reason to get this soon.
I'm glad it's a mostly positive review. I'm sure the games a blast.
I remember playing it at a friends, we enjoyed the "independence day" level. sucks about the lack of online play, i think nintendo really has to pick it up in the online play department, but other than that this is the next 3DS game I'll buy. (Strange how the only other game I have is also a remake. A remake of quite possibly the best game of all time mind you, but a remake nonetheless.)
I loved this game, but the main story is beatable in one sitting. The multiplayer dogfights were awesome, I spent hours battling friends, and I was damn good at it. So very disappointing that there's no online. This would have been my next purchase.
I doubt this game deserves a 9.LitchieGoing by the original, it does deserve a 9. It's a great game. The lack of online is the only downside, but (for me) it's enough to not buy it.

It's a port of a good game. is it that hard to understand the game may be that good even as an old game? Also, key feature here for Star Fox fans, you can now CHOOSE the story path and difficulty path instead of having to do optional objectives to earn them. So basically you can get the multiple endings and all the levels without worrying if you messed up somewhere in a stage. Yes, I wish there was online play, but the graphics look terrific and the fact is it's still a great game and it's the first remake of it. This isn't Rayman 2 after all. Also, get over the ports and remakes already. It happens. The 360 got so many Xbox ports in its first year. All consoles get a boat load of ports/remakes as devs get acquainted with the hardware. It's not uncommon, it will happen on every platform going forward and is something that just stops after a year or so. Another fact is Star Fox's franchise depends on this remake. If it doesn't capture an audience than no more Fox McCloud. Nintendo already tried mixing up the formula, keeping things the same, and doing both with the last 3 games and nothing satisfied gamers so a remake makes a lot of sense IMO.There is nothing new besides the time attack mode and multiplayer power ups. The N64 version was one of the most fun games ever for offline multiplayer. I'd be excited for the chance of online multiplayer to be able to try it w/o being able to glance at the other person's screen and tell where they were... W/o that, I might pick this up used someday but otherwise, I'll just stick w/ my original N64 cart, thank you.
In general, is it possible to have some of these games be updated via download to include some features they lack now or should we pretty much expect for games w/ no online multiplayer to remian w/o online multiplayer forever more?
So, how many of you that said 'A 9? For a remake?' actually owned the N64 or Wii VC version?
DARKNESSxEAGLE
I had it on N64 and beat it everyway possible.
Do I think it deserves a 9.... No it doesn't even have online, which for a game like this, would be perfect for.
If it had online, and was a great port, and even utilized the 3d decently, then yes, I would give it a 9, because Star Fox 64 was a game I had a great deal of fun with by myself and with my friends, (back during the Star Fox, Goldeneye times)

If the future of Star Fox depends on people buying this remake, then I hope it dies. Holding a franchise hostage and then expecting people to shell out $40 for an experience that only lasts a few hours is ridiculous, especially when most of the legwork on the game was done back on the N64. It's downright insulting. There is a new coat of polish on the 3DS version, but it's not even close to $40 worth, especially with the halfhearted multiplayer. Ocarina of Time's update was barely worth $40, but at the same time, that game held up a lot better in terms of its core content.
I'm glad it did good. I never played the original so I'm excited to try it out, but right now, it is between this and Dead Island and I really want Dead Island.

Dude you are contradicting yourself. A port would be the same game re-packaged, so by definition that's lazy.
You probably mean that this is a lazy remake.
OoT 3D is also a remake, deal with it. 8)
