I've never owned a GBA (my last handheld was a Gamegear... am I old?), but since buying the DS last year I keep wondering if it's worth it to buy any of the GBA games. They keep catching my eye, but then I head back to the DS games and buy one of those. I feel like I'm missing out on some good games, but is there any point to it? Will they at some point just be released for DS anyway?

I would say yes, after buying my ds I went back to buy gba games and I was not disappointed especially with games like the golden sun series. If there's gba games that you want just buy them, you could be missing out on some great games.

I agree, go buy the games you would like to play. You missed some real good games & I doubt they will be remade for the DS since the DS can play them anyway.

Awesome. Thanks! Wasn't sure if it would be worthwhile, but I'm gonna grab some GBA games next time I'm out and about.

I agree with what many said.

Best part? You can probably find most games at a cheap price :).

Yes I think its very worth while getting GBA games, some are even better than Ds games (freaky e_O) e.g there was a thread while back which comepared one GBA game to its sequel on DS and the GBA game ended up winning.

Heres a forum on some good RPGs for GBA

There are definitely games for the GBA that are worth getting. I cant say that you should go out to buy GBA games however I would challenge you to look at the top games for the GBA and see if you think they would be worth playing. There are some really nice RPGs to include Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (FFTA2 is on its way for the DS). Check em out. You wont be disapointed.

I doubt they will be ported for the DS.

Only a few games have done that.

Just go out and buy them, some ones I recommend are Golden Sun, Naruto: Ninja Council I and II, Legacy Of Goku II, Medal Of Honor: Infiltrator and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga.

Stock up on GBA games now, while you can still get them at the store. Here are some of my favorites;

  • Castlevania: Circle Of The Moon
  • Castlevania: Harmony Of Dissonance
  • Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow
  • Golden Sun 1 & 2
  • Final Fantasy IV, V, & VI
  • Tactics Ogre
  • Fire Emblem 1 & 2
  • Super Mario Advance 2
  • Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, & 3

You should definitely get some GBA games. Now here's the thing though. You won't be able to play any multi-player modes with GBA games. No port for a link cable.

But don't let that stop you. There are plenty of GBA games out there and multi-player, to me, is not everything.

You shuld buy GBA games, but the DS games dwarfed them technology wise. Your not going to get any good games that a DS counterpart has already beaten.

Hell yes! Why restrict yourself to one library of games when you can choose from two? Plus there are some great games that came out for the GBA. Also, there are GBA games that may or may not come to the DS, but are still worth playing.

I'd totally recommend doing it. There have been a bunch of great GBA titles that are still a ton of fun now.
