I don't know if it's going to be a 3DS successor or Wii U successor. I don't know so don't ask.

I've provided a link so everyone can read and come to a conclusion for themselves.

http://www.gamerevolution.com/news/rumor-nintendo-revealing-new-hardware-at-e3-25585

It could be just a revamped hardware. I don't know. But possibilities arise.

If it has even the remotest posiilities of being true, it's likely just a revision of current hardware... 3dsHD? Wii U slim? Wii U sans the gamepad?

Lets just hope your latter statement is true.

Critically think about this for a second. A person who works for IGN stated that they "heard rumors". IGN does not have official confirmation that Nintendo is revealing new hardware at E3. Secondly new hardware =/= new console. The Wii-U and 3DS are still incredibly young, so why would Nintendo end either platform? Sega did that with the Dreamcast and that panned out terribly. Ending your product early only to release a new one decreases consumer and developer confidence in your product. Nintendo would essentially lose support from their hardware if they did that. The most likely answer is that this "new hardware" pertains to the Quality of Life market Nintendo wants to break into. Otherwise this may simply be a new color model of the Wii-U or 3DS.

Wii U is slim enough as it is, but yeah either a new model/sku of existing hardware or just the new "quality of life" crap.

There's 0 chance of a new platform this e3.

It clearly says "hardware" not "console". This could be anything from a Gamecube controller for the Wii U, to a redesigned Wii U/3DS, or a peripheral for the Quality of Life program. The chances of a new console are extremely slim.

Vitality Sensor U....ha ha

Virtual Boy 2

2DSXL

Whatever it is, it will be a hardware revision at best. I remember when the 3DSXL first came out, people were losing their minds with the thought that Nintendo was going to replace the original 3DS.

actually new hardware is good if it markets to a new audience. QoL for example.

History will repeat itself, therefore this will be some sort of new member to the 2/3DS family.

If you look at the latest stories links at the bottom of the page, you'll see a patent Nintendo secured for a handheld with a way to customize your control scheme. I very seriously doubt that has anything to do with the rumors swirling around, but I'd buy the shit out of a 3ds that allowed me to swap face buttons and directional inputs so that I could duplicate the basic form of my 360 controller.

Like others said, it's likely some other hardware rather than a console. If it is a console, it'll probably be a revision of the Wii U since the 3DS has enough at this point. If that's the case, I want the console itself to look distinct from the Wii console so people won't mistaken it as the same Wii. And maybe change the name in a subtle way like something along the lines of what the 2DS did because the Wii U name is hurting the console more than anything.

If Nintendo is announcing a new console...may God have mercy on their soul.

I'd love for them to announce a new 3DS sku. The L button on my launch 3DS only works 10% of the time at most. I've been lucky that no games have really used that button since it's been busted, but my luck will run out at some point.

The XL is too big and the 2DS is 2D. A new regular-sized 3DS with improved design would be absolutely perfect for me.

If i remember correctly, there was a rumor that Nintendo would do something (i think it was to release the Nintendo DSi XL), but Nintendo denied it. Then, they did release it. Isn't there the possibility that Nintendo denied that the rumors were true, so that E3 will have a bigger impact on people watching?

Reports now are that Nintendo isn't going to reveal anything at E3. However, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Nintendo is indeed working on its next console. Despite some very good (some great) games, I think they realize that the overall consensus is that they are a generation behind tech wise and the time for a new console to match (or surpass) current gen is upon them. Everyone knows that Nintendo has a very solid set of first party games and that the Wii U does them justice. However, many third party developers have skipped, or released watered down versions of their games on the console. And those third party developers mean a lot of extra pocket change for Nintendo. While they may not say anything at this years E3, I don't think it'll be too long before we start hearing more and more of their next console.

This is pathetic. One guy heard from a source and posted it, then everyone posted it, then Nintendo came out and told everyone no.

A Wii U with a 128GB flash memory. a slimmer Gamepad controller. Games that use 2 game pads. A Wii U with an actual HDD even if it is just a 40GB or 60GB HDD. A actual Nintendo game tablet. The 2DS is the closest thing that Nintendo has to a gaming tablet. If Nintendo were to actually create it's own tablet to play 3DS games DS games and Gameboy advance games, even Gameboy color and original game boy games. Nintendo could call it the legacy tablet for games.

New hardware at this years E3 is unlikely. But we shall see in June.

doubt supporting 2 gamepads will on be even on the card atm...unless they can sell gamepad at lower than $100, I don't see it happening tho. Bigger storage, better battery & cheaper overall build - cheaper plastic..are more likely :)
