Getting a Switch soon, and basically just want to know if the pro controller is a good choice, rather than buying another set of joy cons?

For a second controller, which makes more sense?

A set of joy cons will cost me $100, and the charging grip will cost me another $40.

The pro controller is a more economical option at $90.

Do they both basically serve the same purpose? Or is there some reason to consider an extra set of joy cons instead.

i say if you plan to play with 3 other people then another joy con set would be good because then youd have 4 separte joycons. so youd have 4 player out the gate.

also...ARMS has a cool motion controls option. so i if you want to play motion controls against someone then you need an extra joycon pair. but you could use a pro controller in that game if you like and don't want to play with motion.

if it will just be you and 1 or 2 other people then a pro controller might be a better option. the pro offers a different experince than the joy cons. for some games i prefer the joycons. for others i prefer the pro.

Go with a Pro, it's so freaking good. For docked play, nothing compares.
