I thought this game was supposed to be open, but when I saw some gameplay material the small arenas were still present.

Regions are still divided up into areas, but those areas have more to offer compared to previous MH games. It won't be flat landscapes with nothing in sight. A single area will have different elevations which can be fought on, and many of those platforms will also be climbed by the monster and may get destroyed.

Interesting. The graphics have seemed to improved quite a bit since the first trailer - particularly the textures. It doesn't look as muddy.

Anyway, that black 3DS XL is the best 3DS design yet.

lol. I've been playing MH3U on the Wii U. I'm enjoying it more than I was on the Wii. Though, I still think Capcom does a poor job explaining how the game works, which is unfortunate because it's really great once you "get it".

that demo was horrid, but i think the game itself gives you the basics to grasp how things work before setting you loose. MH3U also has a much smoother learning curve, with large monsters overall being much weaker than their wii counterparts. and it serves the game's purpose too. it's one of those games where i feel having the wiki (or the game guide) at arm's reach actually enhances the experience. you're a hunter. you research your prey, study its weaknesses, take note of what tools are better to bring and what for, and if you need a specific weapon for the task, you look up how to get it set. once you're prepared, you head out. there's something enthralling about this preparation process that is unique to monster hunter.

I doubt MH3U has a smaller learning curve. It's most likely from the fact that you know what you are doing already.

To those that havent played a MH game before, there is still a huge learning curve.

no, it has a smaller learning curve. the large monsters have far less health, so battles are far less degrading early on. like, even when i was on MH3, monsters took 5* 20-30 minutes to kill, whereas in 3U they take 10-15. and not just me, my friend that started on 3U kills them that fast. also, my first fight against a great jaggi in 3U didn't last 5 minutes. on vanilla, it was practically an hour.

I'm hopeful for it. Playing MH3U on Wii U and I really want an HD version of MH4. I doubt it happens but you never know. With the 3DS version getting online, even in Japan, its not very likely.

I'll upgrade to a 3DS XL in part because of MH4 and Pokemon.

it already does. my friend uses it in fact. the demo didn't because the demo was made before the CPP launched (yeah it's that old).
