I'm an Idiot... Chhrono Trigger Question

Hey folks... spoilers might abound...

... so I'm an idiot...

... I caught the rat on the girders in the factory, but I must have been half alseep or something and didn't write down the security code he carries... can anyone help me out or is this a random set of button code the game sets up each play-through? I've done the crane and everything but now I can't progress until I enter the rat code... I've read through a few walkthroughs on gamegaqs but none of them seem to list the code.

It might be, I can't remember, it's been too long since I've last played it.

This is just off the top of my head, but as everyone else has said, he tells you to hold down L and R and press the A button at one of the control panels at the beginning (I think it's at the beginning; if not, it might be at the end of the underground area).

I'm fairly sure it's the same password (L + R + A) no matter what.forgot_it

Holding L & R and pressing 'A' doesn't seem to work... This is for the ZABIE door lock system in the Derilect Factory. I'm so mad at myself for bein' a space cadet. So used to a game log being kept for mission details in today's games...

Anyway, if someone can double-check me on this I would appreciate it. Feelin' way stupid at not bing able to open one little door in this awesome game.

Says ATadeo's walkthrough on Gamefaqs:

"You'll see the rat. Now, try 
to run as fast as you can and catch it. When you think it's near enough, hit 
the A button to catch it. He will tell you that, to gain access to the door 
way back in the entrance (the place with 2 consoles), stand in front of the 
shining console, hold the L and R buttons then press A. Remember that YOU MUST 
talk to the rat first in order to move on. You won't be able to use the code 
at the console if you didn't talk to the rat in the first place."


Seferaga's Walkthrough confirms it:


" When you finally catch the rat, he will tell you the password to the control
 panel that we saw earlier.   So head back, enter the password and this will
 open a new path to the right.

 NOTE:  You have to catch the rat before you can enter the password.

 PASSWORD: Hold L + R then press A."

ZABIE? The rat on the girders was over in Arris Dome, so what did that have to do with anything? :? The ZABIE system is explained by a computer in the factory, it's how you pronounce the input code if someone tried to write out the buttons and say them as a word. Again, there's a computer in there that explains it and also tells you the input code.MAILER_DAEMON

Well now i feel like a fool for missing the code AND for asking help... heh.

Perhaps I'll just start over from the beginning and try not to flotz anything up this time around. Sorry to get anyone's dander up with my dumb question.

Yeah, it could be that one code.

I'm playing it on a DS, with an official release copy of the game... not an emulator or any other grey-market gizmos. Thank you for setting it straight (hopefully) Mailer-D.
