HELP CAN'T REDEEM NINTENDO CODE! ERROR 206608

Hello. Today I got myself a Nintendo Code (10$) for my Nintendo Wii.

Whenever I enter the code it gives me error 206608.

So I went to their website to at least redeem it there then it tells me that it involves invalid characters (digits)

are you in europe?

maybe it is a usa code or a japanese code. the wii is region locked. so codes from other countries dont work.

maybe that's it?
