Slayer's singer is definately an aquired taste. But some of the music they made is legendary. Metallica's borrowed alot from Slayer. Lots.
I actually remember about a year ago they had a contest on a local radio station. They would play part of a song then ask: "Who played that jam? Slayer, or Metallica?" People were getting fooled left and right, I even got fooled a couple times. The point they were making though was that Metallica has borrowed quite generously from Slayer over the years, specifically on their major work in the 80's.

Good list so far. Better than GH II. Nice to see they are still putting metal on it.

BTW Slayer is not "psycho babble". I can understand completely if you don't agree with some of the subject material, but they have some amazing songs. Also they sound soo good live compared to bands these days.

That's a much stronger tracklist than GHII's, and a more intersesting one than GHI's. Now if they'll only add some Dream Theater....Dr_Corndog

Oh dude. You have GOT to be kidding me bro. I'm ahuge Slayer fan and a bigger METALLICA!! fan. But I'm sorry in no way was any of Metallica's music at any time "borrowed" from Slayer. Kill 'em all was released in '83 dude! Slayer wasn't making music till mid-late 80's. All of their music at that time and before was either unsigned non-national, or then so underground most had never heard it but their local fans. Metallica have been doing longer and better and trust me never needed to borrow music.

On top of that, what parts of their music at any time EVER sounded that much like any Slayer that would have been released before it (and before you answer know that I'm a musician playing in a professional band and one you might have heard of ;) )? I can't think of any close enough to draw parallels too.

Sorry man but, Metallica never borrowed anythng from Slayer. Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets......those 2 albums are considered art by many in the metal world, and sound absolutely nothing like Slayer. Those people you talked about obviously aren't nearly schooled enough in metal. Listen to the metal of today if you want to hear a bunch of Slayer ripoffs. End of topic.

So what do you think of the list so far? imo it's looking really solid. Hopefully they can work something out with Metallica, Sabbath, Megadeth and Slayer. I'd like to see more of that.

Anyway moving on....Dragonforce!?! I had no idea! I'm in baby!!!

Dragnforce, Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Suck My Kiss (not peppers), Maiden, Beastie Boys, Guns 'n' Roses, Cultof Personalityall good. Everything else I could do without. Actually kinda disappointed. Megadeth and Slayer for sure. METALLICA I'd say OF COURSE except since their music is in Rock Band instead I think that means their music can't be released in another game. Shame :(

i like all the classic rock songs not enough of them not as into the newer rock songs but zz top and foghat make me wanna buy it even if the rest of the songs are crap which i dont think they are

That's the best track list out of all the GH games so far.

But forget Metallica and Slayer (they're good but there's better stuff).. we need some REAL music like....

The Beatles (i doubt they'll get the rights though)

Led Zeppelin (same thing with the rights)

another Hendrix song... maybe Voodoo Child (Revisited) would be sweet

Bob Dylan

some Cream or Eric Clapton

maybe a little Grateful Dead to please those Dead Heads out there

Pink Floyd would be sweet

mostly everyone who played it failed 1-3% into the song. its harder than jordan.

There is a total of 2 songs that I don't know on here and I'm gonna say that the track list is incredible so far! I know a bunch of people are looking for the heavy hitters of metal to jump on the list, but I'd rather it continue with its current trend of solid rock tunes with a touch of metal thrown in. I'm expecting at least 30 more tracks and hoping that they won't disappoint.

More Rush would be enjoyable. Dream Theater would be amazing (or Liquid Tension/Nightmare Cinema). I feel pretty sure that Radiohead fans would be disappointed. They don't like America and I'm sure they'd be insulted to be in a video game. They are featured in anime though, so who knows. Personally, I loved pablo honey and would much rather have something from that album. Maybe "Anyone can play guitar".

I like Rockin' Stroll by the lemonheads would be amazing too.

Slayer formed in 1981 and had their first album out by '83. I wish I could show you the comparisons, because they're there.
All I remember for sure was that Metallica's Justice album has a whole lot of moments that were pretty much exact copies of something Slayer had done beforehand.
I'm going to spend some time today to try finding those songs. I'm not on a mission to take anything away from Metallica, but dammit now you gott me wanting to really find out. ;)

At least they have Rock n' Roll at Night by Kiss, but otherwise, I agree with Garygok. :)

im reluctant to say Better than GH2 right now, because of YYZ. Jordan, Madhouse and Freebird. But it looks grand so far, definitley worth a purchase.

Just a list of songs that would add some perfection to it.

"Dark Eternal Night" or "Solitary Shell" or even "Honor Thy Father" by Dream Theater

I NEED "Tom Sawyer" or better yet "The Main Monkey Buisness" by Rush.

If there is one song by metallica that has to be on GHIII More, it is definitley "One" from the ...And Justice for All album.
Master of Puppets is their signature piece and whatnot, but frankly One has some (if not The Most) insane Solos ive ever heard in my life. If you think Through the Fire and the Flames was hard, you haven't seen ****

also i notice one GLARING Omission. Mastodon. Priestess-Lay Down is in the game, and Priestess have toured with Mastodon, so i could Totally see something from Leviathan.

So far Knights of Cydonia and The Metal are the best reasons to buy this game.
