a coworker of mine was telling a customer how once u get outside the controls, that theres nothing special about the wii. then i pulled the customer aside and told him, "look, dont listen to him. compared to the ps3 and 360, they have the graphics edge. but take away the graphics... and u have nothing better that an x box. the wii actually plays differently, making it more uniqe that the other two consoles." so which is more "special", a cosmetic chance, or a change in the actual gaming experience...
They're both important, no part of a game should be overlooked.
Nearly all information you're receiving from a game is visual. The screen is the primary way the game is communicating with you, so yes, graphics are important.
And of course, gameplay is the method used by you to communicate with the game, so it is also extremely important.
My care for graphics kind of depend on how good the gameplay is. Gameplay is more important than graphics, of course, but good graphics is a very nice bonus. Mario Galaxy, for example, had perfect graphics. If a Wii game will ever look better than Galaxy (which probably will happen), I will be more than happy.
There are also many different kinds of graphics. If a game has an awesome artistic design, that game can surpass a realistic good-looking game in terms of graphics. Let's make an example: Mario Galaxy looks a lot better than Turok, in my opinion.
Gameplay all the way... with appealing graphics. Check out Zack and Wiki. Amazing gameplay with graphics that look nice and add style to the game. The same could be said for No More Heros.

Not sure why anyone would rather have better graphics than gameplay. Sure, graphics can be pretty, but what's the point in playing it if the game sucks?
It's nice to have the best of both worlds but gameplay and fun-factor are far, far more essential.
Easily gameplay for me. Although terrible graphics can ruin gameplay, great graphics don't improve gameplay. If the graphics are at least acceptable I can make do, but just because I like an emphasis on gameplay doesn't mean I aren't impressed by good graphics.
To me if a game is fun and I enjoy it, I dont care what it looks like. I have both 360 and Wii and recently I picked up Bioshock and Twilight Princess. Beat Bioshock which had great gameplay and just truley amazing graphics. But...Twilight Princess is the better game to me because Im having more fun with it. Dont care how it looks, it's just an overall more fun experience. So yeah Gameplay > Graphics.
Gameplay over graphics definitely, since graphics are there to enhance the gameplay. If a game is awesome to play, the graphics just have to be good enough to match its respective system's average abilities. Not many games should be mistaken with something from the previous generation, unless that was the system it was supposed to come out on in the first place.
If you want a more accurate result, you should try posting this thread in General discussion instead. The Wii user pretty much made their choices by buying a Wii ( Gameplay > Graphics ). As far as i go, I would take gameplay over graphics anyday, i'm an 8 bit gamer though. :P
Graphics effect gameplay and the gameplay effects the graphics. They both need to be great in order to have a good game. A lot of wii game are very fun for gameplay but the graphics for most of them ruin it because its soo crap and it slows down the game, thus pissing us off and making it a crap game.

I agree. Gameplay is important, but we do not need to ignore graphics either. I am going through Assasins Creed right now for instance. Sure the gameplay is good, but the amazing graphics add to the overall experience of the game. Twilight Princess would not have been nearly as popular if it had sticked with the cell shaded style of Wind Waker. It was the graphics that brought the legion of fans to buy the game. Graphics and gameplay should always go hand in hand, nuff said.
Well it depends on the game also, how are you going to add good game-play to an RPG, unless its an Action/RPG, The base of the RPG games is the story the tell, and to make that story attractive the need good graphics, now for the rest of the games, game-play is the base of a good game, the graphics are only the make-up. you don't need good graphics for a nice game-play experience, the virtual console is the proof to that,but good graphics are attractive for most people who thinks that good graphics make a good game, well there are cases, Devil May Cry 4 is one example.
well, i f i had an hdtv, then graphics might be a bigger part, but i dont so im a 60-30% guy, 9% is price and friends, if it is too pricey like buying and xbox plus rockband($600) (yes i do know that rockband had a guitar, mic, and drums) then it is really lame, thats why i like the wii, only $50 for games:) then friends, if friends have it, it is the bomb, but if im the only one, then it can be kind of lame. The last 1% of the awesomeness of the game is the cover.
