I set this up earlier today and have had a few people asking me how, so here's a little guide for those who wish to do it.

On the iPhone

  1. Update your iPhone software to the latest update (removes internet tethering and adds wireless hotspot).
  2. Go into Settings > Wi-Fi and ensure you have Wi-Fi turned on
  3. Go into Settings > Personal Hotspot and turn it on
  4. Take note of your iPhone name and your Wi-Fi Password

On the 3DS

  1. Go into system settings > Internet Settings
  2. Select Connection Settings
  3. Select New Connection
  4. Select Manual Setup
  5. Select Search for Access Point
  6. Select the connection that matches your iPhone's name (see image above)
  7. Enter the security key (see image above)
  8. Click OK
  9. Test the connection and you should be good to go.

I hope that's of use to people.

just to tether at all. I think you can get around it with different apps though.

I actually paid for it when I was living at my GF parents house for a few months while we were looking for a new place. They live in the middle of no where and only had dial up and I couldn't stand it. 5gb a month sucks lol thats all the give you even though you pay 30 for internet on the phone plus another 20 to tether...

Wow... they charge you for the feature!?! That's terrible! I understand charging for internet buthow do they justify the charge of using your iPhone as a hotspot? That's like trying to charge you for hooking up a wireless router to your home internet connection!

What a sham!
