Look carefully at the video, there are a lot of breaks that he cut out.

I don't think that would really benefit from 3D (or depth).

This is all very old news.

Is it? I'd heard they were reworking some of the older handheld games for VC, I didn't know they were doing it with NES and SNES. Anyway, good to hear.

I really, really want to see how they handle this.

Stereoscopic 3D is very easy to implement into 3D games. You just render 2 3D images at 2 different angles.

However stereoscopic 3D in old 2D games is.. weird. I honestly have no idea how you pull this off without raising the entire image.

Each sprite can be shown at a different depth.

Old news, but news I didn't know was official. Should I regret I'm going through Link to the Past at the moment.?

Can you explain how this is possible? Sprites are 2D, its not like you can render 2 different angles.

Not all the sprites in 3DS games are 3D. With 2D games, it will probably be done by showing the 2 images with the sprites at slightly different positions relative to the background images.

Maybe.

I think Virtualboy games would be a good way to see how it was done. (Then again those games were created with 3D in mind)

You've never played Virtual Boy? I think its more about rendering in relation to the surroundings.

I just realized you said NES and SNES. I was thinking GB and GBC. Then yeah, this is pretty new news. So thats pretty cool that we're getting console AND handheld games in 3D for the eShop.

Not sure how it would do in 3D, but I'd love to see Brainlord on virtual console. I loved that game and never hear about it. Perhaps it is shunned for the ridiculous title?
