I was thinking, maybe the 3d function will be fun for a while, but is it worth the extra bucks?
and with 2ds can i still play all of the 3ds games? plus the shape looks like it might feel uncomfortable... so im not sure.

I was also a bit iffy about the form factor at first, but after hearing someone say how surprised they were at how comfortable it felt to hold I decided that I would be willing to give it a shot. And it actually is very comfortable to hold.

Basically if gaming on a Gameboy Color or GBA doesn't cause you discomfort, neither will this. The left and right triggers have a nice groove where your fingers can rest while you hold it.

One of the pluses for me was how much it reminded me of playing with my GBC/GBA. Not to mention you won't have to worry about a hinge becoming loose in the future. And after comparing it to a friend's 3DS XL, while not as visually stunning (that thing is a beast) the 2DS has a noticeably sharper resolution due to its smaller screen, so you'll notice less jagged edges around 3D character models.

And yes, the 2DS plays all DS and 3DS games.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that since the 2DS uses a single display for both screens, the bottom screen doesn't have the yellowish tint found on the 3DS and DS.

Unfortunately I haven't tried a 2DS. But I have a 3DS and a 3DS XL. I love the XL a lot more. I don't care about the slight change in sharpness. That big screen is just so much nicer to look at. Also fits in my big hands comfortably..

I could not imagine playing mario 3d land without the 3d. You can get a refurbished 3ds XL at gamestop and try it out for like a week, and if you dont like it you can return it for full refund or pay the difference and get a new one.

I bought the 3DS XL. I bought it because I wanted the 3D feature, folding console, and a larger screen.

What do you mean by single display? This has two screens.

Yes, but underneath they are both part of one display: as shown here.

The bigger screens of the XL is worth the extra bucks. While I think the 3D effect is awesome, it's the bigger screens that matters most. If you don't mind small screens, and care nothing about the 3D, I guess the 2DS is a pretty good choice. I'd prefer the original 3DS, though, since that should also be cheap by now, and you can fold it which protects the screens and makes it fit in pockets.

I have a 3DS XL, and my problem with the 2DS is not lack of 3D. I never use it. It's not really the form factor, either. Rather, it's the screen size. Give me a XL version of the 2DS, and I'll probably hop on board.

From trying them out in stores, the 2DS feels more comfortable to hold than the 3DS. The reason that I will never buy a 3DS or 3DS XL is because of how uncomfortable it is, but the 2DS screen size is too small, so I don't want that either.

If Nintendo ever releases a 2DS XL, I might buy that.

Ha! Too many games to suggest to be honest!

Some recommendations:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (and get Ocarina of Time if you haven't played it before, or want to play it again): Adventure, puzzle, action game
Fire Emblem Awakening: Turn Based Strategy
Super Mario 3D Land: 3D Platformer
Mario Kart 7: Racing
Animal Crossing New Leaf: Relaxing life simulator-type game
Luigi's Mansion 2: Puzzle/adventure
Kid Icarus Uprising: Third person, on-rails shooter
Resident Evil Revelations: Third person survival horror/action

These all vary in genre, and they're all really good in their own respective genres. So just choose any of these depending on what you're keen for.

Personal recommendation is Zelda: ALBW. It's a really good hand held game, tight, straight to the point, solid adventure game. A good 18 hours of solid gameplay.

Also, sounds like you got an awesome deal ;) Enjoy the system. There are more high quality games than I've listed too. Plenty to play on the 3DS.

I guess just try the demos (if they're available). My vote is either Fire Emblem or Zelda. They feel like a step above Bravely Default. Either way, you can't really go wrong.

The 3D feature just gives me a headache, so I would probably go with the 2DS. I always leave the 3D off. Plus, I'm cheap.

@kennysal: At a 3DS XL, because they are awesome. So much better than the other options.
