Ipod Touch 3rd Gen Completely Unresponsive

Hey guys i really need help with my ipod, right now im stumped. nothing works, doesnt turn on, no dfu mode but when i plug into a computer itunes regognises it as an iphone? Doesnt make sense. what could the problem be, i havnt even jailbroken or dropped it. thanks

I tried, thanks but nothing shows up on screen, and itunes comes up and thinks its an iphone. So when i press recovery it says that software is not available. i even tried manually finding ios on my pc that i downloaded but it dont work.
