Should there be a clean slate election or should we just fill the open spot?

I say we fill the slot and keep the officers we have....on one condition. I want the officers to be more forthcoming with us regular folk here at GUFU. No more of this cloak and dagger nonsense. If it's something that you as officers feel needs to be hidden then I don't think it's something GUFU should be doing.Ibacai

Doing a whole election again would kind of be a pain in the butt and I really don't see why any of the other officers need to be replaced. The whole AK ban dodging thing wasn't that big of a deal at least IMO. Just fill subs spot and lets get this business behind us.hellsing321

i'm skeptical that just replacing sub's position would put an end to the issues that lead to the incident. it's just a delay till the next person feels wronged.

Sub and GUFU's higher ups contributed to Cake's departure. End of story. To continue to argue who was more in fault is pointless since both Sub and Cake are gone. Further discussion on this matter won't benefit anybody.

With that said, in the long run, this AK incident is not really worth the energy put into it. As I stated before, the whole issue was based on miscommunication. All I have to say to the higher ups is just fill the slot, learn from your mistakes and start becoming more upfront with your fellow GUFU members.

I don't think revoting everyone is the best approach. What I do think though is that you really need to rethink how the union is run, no more secrets, no more acting so it feels as though officers are better than us members by using their powers to lock threads without good explinations, not to mention good reasons.

Also stop dealing with everything behind the scenes, we are all members of GUFU and we can all handle a little public drama now and again, and I think it's way better to resolve things quick and publicly rather than having it go the way it did now.

It would also be beneficial to have an offsite forum where officers as well as members can talk over the more sensitive stuff regarding union management in private without having to worry about GS Mods or public eyes, not that I'm saying we should break any rules, but at least we can openly discuss issues like AK's account without bringing it to light for the whole of gamespot to see.

You officers should really realise that a lot of the members at GUFU are good people, they can contribute even though they aren't officers, such as help run the different clans, give an alternative view on different subjects or assist with management where it's needed. If this was a public union which allowed anyone to join then the way you are doing things would be more justified, but since GUFU follows a pretty strickt recruitment process I believe ever member deserve a say in any and all matters.

If you are going to name one or more new officers I think it should be voted on, but I believe you will all shape up after this and because of that I don't see any reason to throw you all to the curb.

I wasn't trying to put any more blame on you, I simply answered the his question, whats the problem with that?

Whats done is done and I really see no harm in letting those few members unaware of what happen know as well.

And when you ask I actually do care that Cake left over this, and I'm sure many others do as well.

I don't think the GUFU officers were bashing subrosian. Sub and 2 others got into a heated argument, but no one was using the IRC or other things to specifically bash subrosian. Arguments happen. Especially on the net. It just got a little out of hand. I'm fine with the current officers and think fuzzy would be good for sub's spot since fuzzy was an officer in the past.sonicare

I think what really pissed sub off was how jecht kicked him from IRC. at that point the issue was no longer about halo3. it was about the politics of the guild leadership and how there was favoritism, abuse of powers, and elitism. now i'm not saying all of the acqusations are valid since i'm not privy to officer chat but i doubt that GUFU is entirely free of that either.

True, in that context it did seem a little premature to boot sub from the IRC. Again, I don't know the full history there so I'm judging it without all the facts.

I don't know about that. I've gotten into discussions with sub in which I challanged his views and he did not respond well. He tends to get antagonistic, defensive, and adopts a "me vs everyone else" attitude when challanged. For example, I challanged his views on the Wii and he responded in a very harsh manner, including basically saying that Nintendo doesn't care about hardcore gamers anymore and anyone who thinks otherwise is a Nintendo apologist. Jecht kicking him from IRC didn't help, that's for sure. But all it did was add fuel to sub's fire. Sorry if this seems like I'm bashing sub a lot, but that's what he acts like. At other times he's an intelligent, thoughtful poster, but honestly challange him, and it's like a switch flips...Hoffgod
