So I'm going to be sly and pick six, and have two different platforming lists_

Just keep in mind I'm only going to list 'pure' Platformers. No MetroidVanias, heavy shootie Adventure games with some platforming elements, and certainly no Beat em' Ups here. I love CastleVania, but they're not really a Platformer. One could argue a hybrid. Platforming needs to be the general focus, and CastleVania is primarily combat focused in every title. Just as Devil May Cry is not a 3D Platformer.

I'm probably going to be missing some, but I do think the ones I'm listing are of great quality, and, well, good Platformers. Only picking one per franchise too, otherwise this is a Super Mario Brothers & to a less extent Sonic the Hedgehog praise list lol_

*For 2D I was really considering Freedom Planet 2, even deep down in my soul. However its pacing issues cannot be ignored and not all the characters are fun to play as. FP is also a pretty flawed game as well.
