You guys play Mercenary Kings yet? It's AWESOME!

It's on PS+ for PS4's instant game collection. 2D side-scrolling action at its finest. You play as one of several enhanced mercenaries in glorious 8 bit throwback goodness. You can collect items and modify weapons/armor etc.

I'd never even heard of it before today, but I'm glad I downloaded it. It gives off a MGS, Megaman and Awesomenauts vibe. Not been able to play much of it yet, but I'm impressed so far.

Anybody here tried it yet?

Yep, was excited for this one and so far it doesn't disappoint. I'm not usually one to play these types of games any more but this one is just RETRO gaming at its finest. Nice to see some modern elements and nods in the game as well. Hopefully it holds up the longer I play.

Imagine if this game came out back in the day, it would be the toast of the town.

I just downloaded it. Probably won't get around to playing it until tomorrow, though. Real excited to try it.

I was thinking the exact same thing while playing it. A game like that back on the Genesis or SNES would have easily gone down as one of the greatest games of all time. But it only came out 20 some odd years too late lol. Lots of fun so far though. I love the prone mechanic and the roll. Being able to pick your missions is nice as well.

I love the gameplay and the graphics, but I wish the map were more helpful (either showing where you need to go or showing where you've been).

Haven't delved into customization yet, but some of the stuff I've picked up (nods towards sulfuric a) should make for some cool guns/bullets.

I want to get it, but I'm waiting for a decent sale.

Game needs a patch. Some of the bosses aren't spawning and that's frustrating. I sat there waiting for the Steel Man to show up for 20 minutes but nothing.

Been having a lot of fun on it. The Jager is awesome, as are corrosive shots!

I just did that mission a few minutes ago I think. Is it the Recruit rank mission? It seemed to me that the thing could spawn at any one of those spots on the map, or something. You have to go and find him a second time to finish him off.

Yeah I know he spawns in multiple places, but after getting beat by him twice or so I finally figured out his pattern. So after dying and starting again he just wouldn't show up anywhere, not even once. The timer counted down to zero and the mission failed. Happened to me several times already. I've read about other people experiencing the same problems.

How's the pacing? How long is it? Couldn't wait till the weekend, put in about 45 minutes yesterday.

I didn't bought a ps4 to play indie games with 8bit graphics.

There is a hub based mission structure. Like with the Monster Hunter and Diablo games one can pour a lot of time into this game. Have you delved into creation yet? All I've made thus far is an automatic rifle with a large clip (30 bullets). Its functional but not exotic (I want to build something crazy, I just don't have the parts yet).

Just booted up my PS4, and it looks like it got its first patch already.
