Saw a review of Borderlands recently, which summed up pretty well why I thought the game was so lacking. Tried playing it again, but like last time, got so bored of repetitious fetch-quest/exp grinding, rummaging through garbage, and endless wastelands that I stopped.

I realize that everyone is different, and this isn't meant to be a negative/upset/whatever post in anyway, but I was just curious as to why so many people enjoy Borderlands and its sequel. So, why do you like Borderlands? What make it fun/interesting/enjoyable for you?

1) It's splitscreen co-op couch play.

2) It was a new and fresh experience at the time. Unique fps that differs from the linear corridor shooters.

3) Open world-ish.

4) 4 player online.

5) Lots of loot.

6) It's a hilarious game.

When you play games with your friends (be it splitscreen or online), do you all talk and have fun? Basically that.

A pretty overrated series. I agree.

Because I like it and you don't? Seems pretty obvious to me.

In all seriousness, I just enjoy it. The splitcreen is superbly fun with friends and its like playing fallout, but without the feeling of loneliness. It is pretty fun.

I don't get it either. It's crushingly boring and gives no incentive to do anything since none of it is fun. It's also got terrible humor.

Some people like the art style of it. It can get quite boring at times but at other times can be fun.

Loot, level grinding, cell-shaded graphics, saved character progression, quests.

It's an RPG in a lot of ways.

Because they like it, really now who cares why? If you don't like it that's fine, but it doesn't effect you at all.

Shit mcdonalds sells mad amounts of food allover the world and I hate everything they make, but I don't care that millions of others do because it has nothing to do with me at all

I never really liked it very much, but recently, I'd like to play it more than I have-- I never played it at all. It looks really interesting.

I like hunting for new guns that are worthwhile and developing my character to how I see fit.

Yeah, that's how it looks like.

The animation is shit too but fanboys call it unique.

It's Elder Scrolls with cartoonish graphics and with aliens and robots instead of monsters and dragons. There are thousands of weapons to choose from, instead of swords and magic to combine. You ride a car, instead of a horse. Also, it is a fun game with a compelling story and the co-op is really fun.

its a better co-op type game i think... its not a good single player really. I got really bored in this game by the end of it. theres actually too much loot in the game, it wastes too much time comparing stats on weapons rather then playing the game

in single player it can get pretty boring.

the series really shines in co-op though. the sheer madness that ensues in the bigger battles in co-op is brilliant.

If you think borderlands is boring then you probably never play RPG’s like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Borderlands and Borderlands 2 are one of the funnest games I have played. There are so many things to do in that game. SO MUCH LOOT.

I agree with this. Borderlands is the FPS for RPG players that dont really like FPSs. If you are a hardcore FPS player then it might be a bit underwhelming, tedious and long. Borderlands is really an RPG with FPS gameplay thrown in.

Leveling up, numerous character builds, amusing cast, fetch and kill quests, dungeon crawling, loot fest, open world, 30+ hour gameplay... RPG players feel right at home. I know its my fav FPS game. Even though Im not a big fan if FPS games in general.

i've been going through most of the game solo and am having fun with it. some parts are really cheap and annoying such as the endless waves of enemies but besides that it isn't too bad. i like rpgs but hate the typical rpg build, i think that is why it appeals to me. i wanted something that was different from most rpgs like elder scrolls and wow. maybe i would not like it if i sat with it for long periods of time and grinded but so far i've only played an hour or two per week so I am not tired of the game yet.
