Anyone notice that he can get a high paying job as an analyst and be featured on so many gaming sites, but yet so many people leave negativie comments. i mean just google it and there are all these detestment blogs, forums and columns on him. Just scroll down to the user comments. I for one stopped watching webcasts with him on it, b/c i stopped watching that stuff because of spolier risk anyway, so i am indifferent. I just thaought the Anti-Rachel Ray-like phenomenom was so prevelent

As far as I am aware Michael pachter is one of the btter analysts out there, I think he makes correct guesses little over half the time he makes a prediction, which is quite a feat, since it is not a multiple choice thing.

He is somewhat respected in the industry and has a lot of insight (in marketing and sales, makes fairly levelheaded predictions about hardware aswell).

A lot of gamers dont like him tho, some dislike his personality, some think him arrogant, some hate him because he does not hold thier system of choice up as the pinnicle of gaming, some had the misguided notion that someone always makes the right guesses, and some people plain dislike the sole fact that he seems awefully happy to give out statements and show up alot of places (aka media -insert foul word for a female here-)

I respect the man a fair bit, he is paid to make educated guesses, nothing more, nothing less, and he tryies to share some information gamers would not otherwise be able to get, and give up a broader insight of the industry.

"Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said that he does not think that iPhone is going to be a viable gaming platform.
He said that while the device is impressive, with huge potential, it just costs too much.
"To the extent that hip, rich people are an interesting gaming audience, iPhone games will work. My guess is that this group is only interested in the most rudimentary games, and that the market will be small."

14.7 hours per month – The amount of time that the average iPhone gamer plays games, which is nearly double the time spent playing by the average mobile gamer, according to Nielsen.

$11 million – The latest sales figure for Epic Games' popular iOS title Infinity Blade, which was at $10 million just one month earlier.

The iPhone and iPod Touch are making serious inroads against the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. Games running on the iPhone OS went from 5 percent of portable game revenues in 2008 to 19 percent in 2009. The iPhone OS took 9 points of software revenue market share away from the PSP last year (which went from 20 percent to 11 percent) and 5 points from Nintendo DS (75 percent to 70 percent). It is eating up the portable games market.

some blunder, huh?

Hes one of the more accurate analysts out there. Having said that, hes still just an analyst and he'll be right and wrong many times. Technically, as long as hes right more than 51% of the time, hes doing his job correctly.

He's the Harold Camping of the games industry. If you keep making random guesses, you're going to be right eventually.
