It sounds like the best E3 would be for companyes to do it like an Auto Show:

1. Have it all under one roof.

2. MAke the main event last at least 10 days. (14 if possible) Giving all the venders plenty of time to set up their valuable "Booths" etc. and be worth wile.

3. First 2-3 days set for press and industry players only.

4. Charge an entrance fee to EVERYONE. Press pay MORE. :P

5. Have all the cool press releases run twice, one for the pros, and one for the general pulic. Each Press Reales could vary or be the same.

6. Have tones of game consules and demos on hand.

7. Have Games and merchendice availible for purchase. COMMERCE

8. Have scheduled live games conestsand commone events with major give aways, prices, etc. Making each and every day fun and importsant to the end of the show.

9. Conform to a standard uniform model for each booth and exibite, controle noice, etc so everything is balances and orderly with bigger comapnies having greater footprints on the floor and larger isels for traffice, etc. (And have some super hot sexy models !)

10. Have fun and spend some cash! (And if possible have it in CA, TX, and New England., etc JUST LIKE THE AUTO SHOW.

With is, E3 would actually gennerate a second revenue for all the attendies, as well as pay off in advertizing, and name recongnision. There is no better way to get hard core gamersAND the new "30 sumthings" who have the cash to buy a game consule, or tricked out gaming PC and emerce themselves in a univers they never new existed. TV what? ...
