Mario Kart Wii. One of the few games where I could really get into the multiplayer mode. I need my fix of FIFA every once in a while too.

Current gen: Defintely Oblivion; between my 3 characters I invested well over 150 hours, the most time I've ever spent on an offline game. Last gen: Dead or Alive ultimate; going online and kicking everyone's ass playing my favorite fighting game series was a blast. Logged over 100 hours on it and was ranked in the world's top 50 at one time.

probably the one game I was most addicted to was Counter-Strike, I see some people mentioning Oblivion (played through it but not addicted), but I was however a big addict of Morrowind, probably the most played game on the original Xbox next to Halo

Diablo II

Bad Company 2

Uncharted 2

Oh and back in the day, Pokemon. OMG I played so much Pokemon lol. Not to mention other games that WERE addictive, like Perfect Dark 64

Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII, and Halo are some that come to mind. Nothing can compare to the addiction that was WoW, but I guess that doesn't matter, heh.

Does Phantasy Star Portable 2 count? If so, yes. :D Can't... stop... grinding...

If not, then these:

Dragon Quest IX

Uncharted 2 MP (60+ hours and counting.)

BFBC MP (general ranked a long time ago, I still come back to it)

Indeed. Though, it doesn't seem to have the absolute longevity I would hope for in a game like it. It would be nice if there were certain goals you would have to achieve (like collecting 100 gold ore blocks or something).

Doom. The endless custom WADs and mods make the game last forever-literally. Someone's bound to make something new when the community is bored with a particular set of maps. And who hasn't attempted a nightmare speedrun? :P

That, and Pokemon. Logged 270 hours in HeartGold.

Many games in Pokemon and Final Fantasy franchise are addictive, RPG games in general work that way for me. I will also include some older tittles, mostly RTS, can't get enough of Starcraft, Warcraft III and Command & Conquer Red Alert skirmish matches.

Co-sign, by far Doom1&2 have ben keeping me hooked on the PC, with a endless supply of custom mods.

That, and Duke Nukem 3D Polymer version, which looks like a 2007 FPS. And its endless mods.

Pokemon Puzzle Legue for the N64...I saw that game when I closed my eyes

I found Borderlands suprisingly addictive...I'm not a huge FPS fan but everytime I play that game, I find myself constantlysaying "Just a few more minutes..."

And those 'few more minutes' usually end up being a couple more hours...

The Pokemon games are probably the ones I'm most addicted to, though...I haven't been able to play 'em in a while because my DS' top screen is messed up and won't always work...I played Pokemon Pearl for 1000+ hours...don't know exactly how long; the clock stops at 999:59

Western music games are a dying fad. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

Then there's games like this that have been around longer and show no signs of dying... Linky

Not from what I can tell. There is a modifier in IIDX that lets you randomize notes... but that is an actual chart from StyIe 15 DJ Troopers. Had they been randomized, I doubt anyone short of a IIDX robot (and not a professional Japanese IIDX player mind you) could clear the song.

Up until Troopers, the highest difficulty has always been "Another" which provided the most complex and difficult charts in almost any music game (save perhaps Keyboardmania and Drummania). Then the IIDX players who've beaten all the Another charts as soon as they get their hands on the new mixes complained it wasn't hard anymore. Konami responded with the "Kuroi" difficulty ("black" in English). Mendes is one of the many charts they took and added more notes to. Mendes on Another is actually pretty doable for most players who spend enough time with the game. Black just seems stupid.

What is really funny is when people start talking about how "Through The First And Flames" is "hard." There are "easy" songs in some IIDX mixes that are harder than TTFaF.

Hehe, nice. And Rock Band 3's Pro Guitar is bringing the genre to a whole new level. I'd love to hear your opinion on that.
