I liked flying the choppers in FC5. Planes, not so much. The must-do plane missions were bit of a chore...

As to nights, I prefer light nights so that I can see enemies and where I'm going. If its pitch dark I just crank up gamma on telly till I can see. Going around in pitch dark just aint in my nature!

I also came to the conclusion that the helicopters are the best aircraft in the game, especially if I want to remain close to the ground. They're easily shot down though when trying to capture settlements with them. In contrast, the Buzzer in Far Cry 4 is a formidable weapon when I have an M79 grenade launcher with me.

I like dark nights because it's almost like real life. Plus, I got spoiled by the STALKER games. The nights there are really good.

The Buzzer in Far Cry 4.

This is how nights should be (with a partial moon out):

I just used parachute during the latter stages of the game. You can easily destroy most of the enemy while you are descending with parachute. I used the same tactic in Just Cause 3.

By the way, did you notice you can buy cool skins for all your weapons? I really like that in games, being able to paint your guns in outrageous colours. like in this pic below. That bear in the pic was my fave companion in the game..

I prefer a helicopter so that I don't waste my own ammo. I also like camo patterns for my weapons.

My favorite Guns for Hire are the mutt (Boomer) and the lady with the helicopter (she likes talking dirty).

Playing Outpost Master in Far Cry 5. I love the mindless roaming. It reminds me of home. ;)

The Whitetail Mountains..... I think it would better if Ubisoft implemented seamless transition between first-person and third-person views like the ones in the Bethesda RPGs.

That's fine. Most mountains in Big Sky country are somewhat plain-looking and Ubisoft did a good job capturing that feel.

You have to realize where I'm coming from. I lived in Northern Nevada which is still Big Sky country. When I roam the Far Cry 5 world, I'm also pretending I'm home. I wouldn't be able to do that in Skyrim. ;)

Carson Valley, Tahoe Valley, Washoe Valley. They're home and Far Cry 5 captures them well. The mountains there are not jagged or foreboding. If the mountains in Far Cry 5 were snow-capped, the illusion would be complete.

So when you play FC5 you're constantly saying things like, 'Damn, this ravine looks like the exact place me and Moonshine Bill buried those tourists!'

Nah. More like, "This looks like an area where I found a lot of asparagus sprouts."

Anyway, I'm not yet tired of photo mode. ;)

So, Japekto, were those screenshots from FC5, or were they actual pics from your childhood?

As in; 'Here's me dad in his fatigues. He was really fatigued that day!'

To continue with jokes, heres a funny pic off MGSV: I caught one of my motherbase guards smoking on duty!

The Far Cry scenery screenshots I posted are uncanny, especially the colors of the cottonwood and Douglas fir trees (plus some aspen trees as well).

We don't have a Testicle Festival like in Far Cry 5. It's called Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival.

Exploring Far Cry 5 world's boundaries. The proximity warning went off long before I reached the edge of the map and a few yards shy of the summit.

I have taken up STALKER: Call of Pripyat again so that I don't get rusty. Whenever I play a Far Cry game or STALKER, I have a tendency to get good in one while becoming rusty on the other. Right now, my main game is Far Cry 5.

Nighttime is fun in STALKER: Call of Chernobyl. Night is supposed to be dark. It's 2018 and there are still very few games that depict nights as they should be.

You do realise you can make nights dark in every game simply by reducing brightness on your telly...

Anyways, do give us screenshots of Lara in her wetsuit when you get to that diving level in Tomb Raider Underworld. Which is great game, btw.

That would reduce the brightness over EVERYTHING though, including lights. I hope you're not suggesting reducing your display's brightness is in anyway a workaround for games with totally unrealistic nighttime brightness.

I can't find the disc for Underworld. I have the disc for Anniversary though. I didn't bother installing it because if Legend worked, Anniversary will too.

As for nighttime darkness in games, I tried turning down the TV brightness. Unfortunately, daytime looked odd.

Some games do nights and darkness okay though.

Just playing an assortment of games over the weekend.

The graphics of Fallout 3 really reeks (and I don't ask too much). It makes the graphics of the STALKER games look good. The tint makes me feel like I'm color blind.
