The best GTA "clone" came out 10 years ago this month

Before the gaming industry decided to completely remove their souls from existence we got some great games like Sleeping Dogs it's easily one of the best open world crime games of all time and it deserves a sequel. I'm doubtful it will ever happen but maybe it's for the best because of how bad the industry has become. Anyways Sleeping Dogs is a awesome game that people still talk about today for good reason it has a amazing Hong Kong setting, great characters, awesome soundtrack and most importantly fun combat. It feels unique and fresh compared to everything else out there and it is just damn fun to play.

Right when I saw "GTA Clone" I immediately knew what was about to be talked about. Love the game, wish the sequel would still come (I still have hopes). It is one of those games I come back to every now and then and just replay it and do more in the game. It also has an interesting lore and theme once you know what to look for.

I still think what possibly killed the potential franchise was the cancellation of what it was originally going to be to the immediate development of SD. When it was still called True Crime: Hong Kong, I remember how that was an anticipated game and was severely close to deadline, only to get cancelled. I later learned about what they planned to do with it, but I could tell all energy surrounding the game was gone and it sort of dropped into that Underrated status that was propelled by people like us talking about it, but I am not sure if it was a saving grace. I'm open to being corrected on this, but this is what I do remember about the game.

Had some problems when I played it but I heard it has been cleaned up a bit? Seemed like a diamond in the rough.

I only played it for about 2 hours and it was good, but didn't feel like True Crime. I can see why they rebranded it instead of calling it True Crime: Hong Kong or something.

Enjoyed it on PS3 and have it on PS4 though haven't beaten the DLC.

Sleeping dogs was a surprise to me i usually hate GTA clones but it was refreshing sad there probably will never be a sequel.

This game is top tier. The was supposed to be a sequel or successor to Sleeping Dogs, but sadly it got canceled :'(

Same! lol. I got it on the 360, then the definitive edition was given away free on Xbox One with Games with gold. It's definitely a game I want to try out.
