I haven't seen a thread like this in a long while, so I thought I'd make one.
Riot City is a 1991 2D arcade beat 'em up. It was never released outside of arcades so it never got as much attention as games like Final Fight, which it resembles a lot. (Oh, you're rescuing a chick from a crazy gang in here too, so it's even more so like Final Fight). You control Paul, the balanced fighter (player 1 by default), or Bobby (player 2 by default), whose attacks are more powerful but also slower. Like in Final Fight, there's a special large area-of-effect attack that drains a bit of your health.
The graphics are slightly rougher than those in Final Fight (yes, these screenshots are tiny so they look good, but on a full screen...), but they look - how do I put this? - endearing. The soundtrack is awesome; one of the best in a beat-em-up in my own humble opinion. It's overall one of my favourite 2D beat-em-ups.
Has anyone played this in the arcades? I doubt many people have, but I'll ask anyway: if you did, what do you think of it?
