Ranking the Rayman games

Hello, how would you rank the Rayman games? Let's exclude spin-offs, including handheld versions.

• Rayman 1995
• Rayman 2: The Great Escape 1999
• Rayman 3: Hoodiuim Havok
• Rayman: Origins 2011
• Rayman Legends 2013

• Legends,2,3,Origins and I haven't played any others.

@uninspiredcup: I’ve played all of the games you’ve listed...just never finished any of them because I was too young.

Would you consider I play through the first game? I’ve heard it’s pretty hard. I’ve got Rayman Forever on the PC. I think they changed the soundtrack on the PC version though?

@speeny: The original is brutal. It starts off challenging but fair but starts to jump into bullshit territory towards the second half. I'd still recommend it though, just use the lives cheat. The sprite work is incredible.

You can download the original soundtrack. It's missing the story-cutscenes, but no biggie, basically 20 second FMV's.

Was the first game really called ratyman?

Anyways, never got into the games, as I found the looks and gameplay just kinda dull and uninspired. By the numbers game design if there ever was.

Rayman Origins > Rayman Legends > Rayman 1 >>>>> Rayman 2

I never played Rayman 3 since Rayman 2 was enough to know that I don't like Rayman in 3D. Rayman is far better in 2D.

@uninspiredcup: Playing through Rayman Forever now. Up to the first stage of Band Land which is pretty tough. It's a game where you really gotta memorise patterns and what not. It's very good it's just frustrating at times. It'll get harder I'm sure of it. :(

Yea, alot of trouble comes down to the 4/3 screenspace. You can change it in dosbox settings to force a non-stretched 16 aspect ratio.

It helps abit, but the game is still hard as nails. Darksouls is easy by comparison.

Oh boy Rayman. Let's see Legends, Rayman, Rayman 3, Origins, Rayman 2. The instrument level that takes place in the sky in Rayman 1 as you get hit by lighting bolts or stab by notes was a hard level as a kid. Also inputting save codes to continue off where you left off was a pain.
