Everyone will admit that replaying a game you loved while being a blast never amounts to the way you felt the first time through.

If there was one game that you could completely forget and play through again for the first time what would it be and why?

Final Fantasy XII. I know it's a recent title, but my PS2 failed and broke on me just as I reached the final boss. I still haven't played (this was in the beginning of March) and beaten the game because of it, and running too short on cash to replace my PlayStation at the moment. Now it's going to feel more of a relief than an accomplishment whenever I do clear the final boss, and wish I could completely do everything over for the first time, as if none of this had ever happened.

Probably Metal gear solid 3. I'd love to be able to re-feel what I felt during the ending.

Definately a good one to pick for that very reason...

I'd personally pick World of Warcraft, although I still play it and enjoy it. The first few hours in the game were beyond mesmerizing (It was my first MMO).

RE4 for sure. Every minute was great, except maybe the cabin (took me over 20 tries)

Morrowind + expansions. I've spent so many hundreds, likely thousands, of hours playing it I could use a restart.

Chrono Trigger. Great game to play over and over again, but nothing beats playing it for the first time.

I totally agree with you dude..not half as good the second time around...in fact i dont even think i could bring myself to beat it twice...

then there is ff7...I played it when i was like 10 or so and i was replaying it and i noticed a lot that i didnt notice before...but all the parts that made that game..the best game ever made were still burned into my brain...

then there is re4...dude that game is GOOD!!

Final Fantasy VIII. First FF game I ever played, and it completely blew my mind at the time. Now...eh, it's still one of my favorite FFs, but it's just not quite as good as I remember it being.

Either Super Mario Bros. or Final Fantasy VII.  Both inspired such a newfound sense of awe and wonder, and while I still love them and still play them, I can never get that first-time feeling back. :(

The first Deus Ex. Despite a weak ending, all the intrigue and twists (particularly emerging from the MJ12 cell and realising where you are) really made that first play through incredible. The gameplay was still fun enough to warrant multiple playthroughs (particularly since it was one of the first games to legitimately allow the player to approach a situation in multiple ways). But the first time through was really special.

Star Wars KotOR. I've lost count on how many times I've replayed it but I want to experience the shock of the plot twist again.

I'd want to have it like the early days in chromehounds again. Pretty large community, everyone experimenting with making hounds, it was awesome. It slowly slipped away though. Also playing oblivion for the first time is amazing.

for me, those games i really want to replay while forgetting whats going on in them, are not action games but rpgs,

because i play action games for their action parts, not the good storylines, on the other hnad,

i play rpg games to know whats going on there, so if i could replay games for the first time,

they would be rpg games that have good stores making me want to replay them.

Totally agree with you two.But i have a game that i really want to replay."Shen-Mue" i can't remember the spelling. The reasons i wanna replay this is because it was the first free-roam game with excellent graphics that came out.The feeling and scenaries this game gave me was so astonishing that i havent forget the game till now.Sad thing is that i finished the *** version thus not able to understand a single word of the story.I'll happily play it now even though the feeling when i first played it won't appear again.

System Shock 2

The first time I played through it was stretched over a long period of time, and I don't think I was able to appreciate it as much as I would have if I had played through it in like a week. I had long gaps in between play periods, and I always forgot what I had been doing previously and what was going on with the story. I won't make the same mistake with Bioshock. That game looks great.

Gears of War. I had an SDTV when i bought it, and loved the game, played it through three times back to back. I've since bought an HDTV and the graphics on Gears are even more mindblowing than i thought they were, but i just can't summon the interest to complete it again

Me too actually. I think it could be fun to replay now since I've also forgotten enough - except that bloody forklift puzzle!

I have to say that my favorite puzzle was the giant keg one, hard but fun.

Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows Of Amn, I spent around 6 months with the game my first playthrough and the whole time it was like that perfect book, you just couldn't put it down. It is still my all time favorite game to this day, the level of character depth and growth, scale, story, gameplay...its perfect.
