Okay, lets name the Golden Eras for each genre.
You can do this for as many genres as you can think of, and then can, if you want, explain why the era you named is the Golden Era and Halcyon Days for that particular genre.
I'll start!
JRPGs: PS2/GC era.
-for that is when JRPGs really bloomed and grew up. Rogue Galaxy is perhaps the best mainstream JRPG ever, and PS2 especially saw hundreds of wacky and wonderful JRPGs, many of which were translated to English. The Golden Era for sure!
Platformers: N64/PS1 era.
-no games have beaten Crash, Spyro or SM64 in platforming brilliance!
FPS: PS1 era.
-PS1 and N64 saw surprisingly great FPS ports from PC, such as Quake 2 and of course Doom. Also, Alien Trilogy rocked. Nuff said, eh?
SHMUPs: SNES/Genesis era.
Fighters: PS1 era.
Racing and rally games: PS2 era.
-Hundreds of diverse racers saw daylight on that era. Great time for racing fan.
And that's all genres I can think of...
Over to you!
