Hey there!

I had an idea of doing a sort of legacy forum magazine. I know we have some great writers around here. I'd do the layout and anyone that wanted to could submit articles for it. You know things like retro reviews, why you liked (or didnt like) certain games, etc. Basically anything you wanted to write about retro era gaming would be great. Was wondering if any of you guys would be interested. It would be like a monthly thing.

if you needs more reviews, just ask

not a bad idea actually,

also someone needs to sticky the list of places to buy retro games , maybe put it here?

Great idea! I've only written a handful of game reviews, but this could motivate me to write some more.

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't wrote many legacy reviews mainly because I never think they're going to get read. But this sounds interesting.

It's funny you're planning on doing this actually, because I'm beginning a little venture into unlicensed companies, their games, their rises and downfalls and other little tidbits of information on why unlicensed games exist at all and that not all are as bad as they've been said to be. You're free to use those as I post, if you're tracking me you should be able to see them when they come out! :D

I support this idea. There's so many games I could write about, and would most certainly be interested in contributing to the magazine.

^ Easy. Get a collection of willing volunteers who would be able to permanently manage the feature, and then have them collect submissions from users who'd like to contribute. They can then organise it into a magazine, with perhaps even regular supplements (Ask a regular editor a question, an editor's thoughts etc) to fill up the gaps and make it look complete. We could even have a volunteer create images for the different parts of the magazine. If I remember correctly, the General Games Discussion board had a monthly magazine featuring reviews. It'd be something similar to that really. I must ask DrFish62 (Editor of the GGD Mag) to see if he has any editions he can show us, to give us an idea of what ours would be like.

EDIT: It's "Whenever" and not "Whenver" (sigh-there's going to be an editor for this magazine right?) lol:P

I like "Old Gen Blend"!:)

replace the"Folgers" and we havethe new jingle: "The best part of wakin' up is Old Gen Blend in your cup":P (okay now I'm just being silly and I don't think we could get past the TM lol).

or we could have one of those "Est." signs to keep the old-school feel to it.

Old Gen Blend

Est 1967

with a gamer's crest of some sort.

I'd read it, for sure. But I'm afraid to write for it. I know anything I happened to make a mistake on would be picked apart by some of these guys.

If this is through Gamespot, then maybe some of the retro game reviews could become official reviews on the site. Many older games are lacking official reviews and scores on this site, and sorely need it.

RetroSpot is great, I think. Otherwise go w/ something extremely overwrought and pretentious like Gaming Legends. I have had this idea to start up a blog in which I review all manner of horrid Gameboy shovelware purchased of eBay in lots. Maybe I could do something like that in such a magazine... and people would actually read it.

Interesting...there are lots of games out there for the legacy systems...This should be fun...I want to help, but I have a tendency to use a lot of ellipses. (I don't know why I just use them) and plus I have a pretty short leash on time.

This is a great idea! I am very interested in contributing interesting articles and interview peices relating to legacy gaming.

For more name ideas:Legacy GamingMagazine -Bequest Magazine - (Bequest is an synonym for legacy or heritage - and it sounds "video-gamey")

I'll support it. I'm also interested in doing some legacy games reviews if you're still accepting positions. I own a somewhat extensive legacy collection for N64 and Genesis, as well have played a great multitude of games for everything from the Atari all the way up to Xbox. I'd like to stick to Nintendo games though.
