This is why.

At the end of 2006, 8,571 PS2 titles had been released worldwide (4,745 in Asia, 1,375 in North America, and 2,451 in Europe

We got almost a fourth of the amount of games the Japanese got.

The following games that caught my intrest that I ended up missing out on.

Insect Princess

Melty Blood (you can play as a midget cat for Chirst sake's!)

King of Fighters XI

Dragon Quest: Yangus's Journey

Well those are just a handful.

And I know they do this to lower piracy, I just think it stinks because we miss out on so many great games. :(

It is bad enough that our beloved interest is split over three formats.  Can you imagine if there was a sustained period here there were 3 DVD standards?  So on top of that we have regional locks.  Some of my best gaming experiences have come through playing imports that were not released in the US (through legal means of course).

I know most of the best Japanese games don't make it to the West, only the ones that will sell and are made by big publishers. :(

It really does suck, there are plenty of games that were never released in the US that I want to play.
