Invent a new controller that let's me play without thumbs, utilizing my other fingers instead.

I would use my keyboard and mouse. Sure it's nice to have thumbs when using them too, but not as essential as it is when using gamepads. I guess Natal would also work.

Mouse and Keyboard doesn't require thumbs so I would be fine.

Switch to PC gaming, you don't need your thumbs for that. ;)

I would adjust to using my index fingers for the analog sticks (PlayStation systems/Xbox systems), and use the middle and ring on the trigger buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2/LB, LT, RB, RT). This also applies to the GameCube, though not to a large extent. I'd give up on the Wii with the exception of VC games. PC games would look better to me since you really don't need your thumb to play them (though the mouse will take some getting used to). The N64 would be extremely hard to get used to; I'd probably give up on it. As for the SNES and NES, those would be easy to play without the thumbs.

I would develop a serum which allowed me to grow my thumbs back, but if that didn't work then I guess I would have learn to use the gamepad with my feet.

I have two more thumbs on my feet. Surely science could transplant them on my hands.

None of the above. OCZ Neural Impusle Actuator.

Although, PC Games with regular old Keyboard and Mouse would still work without thumbs. You don't need a right thumb for the mouse, and you only ever use your left thumb for Spacebar, so just map "Jump" to something else in action games and you're fine.

I'd get prostetics. Only need something to push buttons and move the sticks.

This has occurred before and is something that any doctor probably would discuss with someone in this situation. If this scenario did happen to me, gaming would be on the bottom half of things I'd worry about.

I can't find it right now, but there was a youtube video of a gamer who didn't have hands, and the majority of his arm. I think I could do fine without the thumbs.

The only problem I see with typing is that each time you want to space you would have to move one of your hands to the space bar.
