I prefer listening to a game's music unless it's something I don't have to concentrate much on. But if I don't have to concentrate much on the game, its publisher probably won't get my money, anyway.

it depends on the game....if the game requires a lot of concentration (i.e. forza 2), I play without music or else I'll crash...yea, its odd, but I can't help it...I can only concentrate on the road, or else I'll be smashed up against the wall.:D

It depends on the game for me as well. Certain games that I play, I enjoy the soundtrack too, so I listen to that. If I'm playing a sports game or something like the Sims or Animal Crossing, I tend to throw on a CD.

I use custom sound tracks on most games I play. It depends on the game. While I was still playing Crackdown I listned to music everytime played because there weren't many important thing I had to hear(It was good for drowning out the noise from the annoying announcer in the game). During my first playthrough of GeOW I didn't listen to any music in case there was anything important I had to hear, in my second playthrough I listened to music the entire time because I already knew the story and what I had to do.

I never listen to my own music while playing games. For me it does take away from the game.

Why would you need concentration to play a video game? It's not like you're studying or writing an essay.

I haven't listened to music outside a video game while playing since the N64 days. Music tends to be more enjoyable now a days, and I prefer listening to the in game soundtrack.

Well I don't like listening to the computer or stereo while I'm playing, but since I got my 360 and I am able to just pick songs on the console while I'm playing I suddenly like listening to the music lol... Exspecially fast paced music while I'm playing Gears of War and Lost planet..

Depends on the game, Racing and Sports games oh hell yeah all the time. Any other genre not usually though as I find it does take away part of the immersion.

It depends what genre you play. Adv and rpg may have fascinating music. On the contrary, almost FPS is full noise.
