Pretty much the majority of my N64 collection a long time ago. I regret it now, because I really miss Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart, Banjo-Tooie, Wave Race, and Yoshi's Story.

The original Jedi Knight. I sold it at a garage sale once for $5. I got another copy a while ago, because I'd been kicking myself for doing selling it in the first place.

I don't sell any games or consoles. Their are some games and consoles(Handheld) that I used to own but no longer. Due to thieves. I do miss my gameboy and pokemon red. Though I do got Pokemon Blue and a SP now that replaces them.

Selling Final Fantasy 7, Star Ocean 2, Vagrant Story,Xenogears, and Final Fantasy 9 about 6 years ago. Sold them because I wanted to buy Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and Half-Life 2 for the Xbox. I was desperate for money and sold them thinking I'd just buy them up at a later date. Luckily, I've been able to recover a copy of Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 9. Still need to get my hands on Star Ocean 2, Vagrant Story, and Xenogears.

Yep, I regret selling my Dreamcast. I was young and more enticed by the newer consoles coming out so I needed money to buy them. Am I devastated? No, but it would still be nice to have one. Luckily they aren't horribly expensive on ebay.

I also regret selling FFVII. Not because I liked the game, in fact, I didn't care for it much, but because I sold it with FFVIII and FFIX for a total of 70 bucks. You can sell the game alone right now for more than 70 bucks probably. Could have made a lot more money, haha. Oh well. Live and learn.

When I was about 10 or 12 I sold my entire SNES collection.

Massive mistake. I've spent several years and several hundred dollars trying to get it all back.

Yes, my SNES all the games for it the main ones I remember being

DKC series

Breath of Fire

Super Mario World 2 Yoshi'sIsland

Supermario RPG

And my N64 and all the games for it.

Did that like 7 years ago wanting to get new stuff for my PS2 not thinking I'd ever get the hankering for some more Starfox, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong, or classic RPG wholesomeness. I have since begun to buy back as much of it as I can.

Back in 2003 or so, I sold 4 SNES games that I had since 1997 to GameStop for $7 total. They were:

  • Wheel of Fortune Deluxe
  • Beavis & Butthead
  • Scooby-Doo
  • some Pool game

I regretted selling them immediately. After that experience, I have yet to sell another game.

I had the Atari 2600 for quite some years, nearly 10 I think, though with me being into the NES, or SNES at the time, the 2600 just sat around not being used, I figured I'd never miss it, and no point in something just sitting there taking up space when someone could be playing it. Gave my old Atari system, and 14 games for it, away to one of my mom's friend's kid, later when I'd gone back over there and seen it, all dusty, not working properly, I felt sorry for it, how could I have done that, put it in that kind of household. But what was done was done.

Back when I used to have my very first NES collection, had around 30 games for it, everything was perfect, boxes, instructions for them as well, but being as how I found out that there was this place nearby that I could get more games, I traded all my games in so that I could try other NES games I'd never had the chance to play before. If only I had the patience, waited a few years, when I got my first job, then I could've hung on to those games plus buy some more. It wasn't a very good trade off, traded brand new complete games for used cart only ones, and each time I went back I got less and less games, eventually I didn't have any NES games. But at the time I didn't really appreciate it enough, I enjoyed them, but I didn't know years later that I'd regret what I'd done.

But, having gotten into the SNES, I figured I'd never care to go back to the NES again anyway, the SNES had similar games, and it was better in every possible way. But several years later I tired of that, sure there were a ton of new games, all really good, but none of it was really all that exciting anymore. Plus Nintendo kept cancelling games, Nintendo Power would show all these new games coming out, then suddenly after they done teased me, those games end up not coming out, worst was when I saw the previews of some of those games in action on display at the Toys'r'us I worked at then, I got a glimpse of Star Fox 2 in action, as well as FX Fighter, Comanche and several other games I was hyped up for, then a week later it gets taken down, then I find out why in my next issue of Nintendo Power, they canned Star Fox 2! WTF!? And it wasn't just those disappoints, Nintendo had disappointed me several times over the years, such as everyone else was going cd based and they weren't, and all they could do is throw out a bunch of bull about how much better cartridges are, that cds just are practical for games. I was getting bored and tired of them, so I moved on. Besides, that Playstation was awfully enticing, hadn't been as excited about one single game in years, not since the first Super Mario Bros. got me to get the NES, Battle Arena Toushinden was my introduction to the PS.

A few years later, during the first year the Playstation was out, I tried getting back into the NES, but this was because the Playstation was so new, and while the games were among my favorites, the system wasn't so good, major skipping and freezing problems made it a chore to play anything, so I got a top loader NES, started to get some games. But I decided that I wasn't going to get used games, which caused me to get rid of my new stuff to begin with years before, and I regretted it, but it didn't leave me with very many games to choose from, afterall the NES was pretty much dying out, only games still in stores were those from Nintendo and a few other random picks. I didn't stay with it long. Again got rid of it. But after finally getting a good working Playstation, I stuck with that.

Later I try yet again, this time Funcoland being my supply place for NES games. Don't remember how many games I had before I called it quits with the NES again, either 60 or 80 something, but I figured there was no point in trying to build up a collection for a dead system, plus the games I wanted I was having trouble finding at the time, I didn't really give it much chance, gave up too easily, plus this was a time when I was heavily into learning Japanese so I was buying import PS games. Anyway I traded in all those NES games, got only about 20 dollars for it all (boy did I rip myself off) to get a couple Japanese PS games, which a week later I traded those back in too. Also, I was really depressed during this time period, I think I was trying to punish myself in everyway I possibly could then.

Had the Virtual Boy for a little bit, don't know why I bought into Nintendo's crap again, they promised continued support, instead the Virtual Boy goes down the gutter, but what did I expect, the system was completely flawed and doomed to begin with. What the hell was I thinking? Then yet again I gave Nintendo another try, with their N64, this being after playing Diddy Kong Racing on the display set-up at my Toys'r'us, this was a must get game, but I did look over everything else, what else does this console have to make it worth purchasing. I got a bunch of games, half of them I enjoyed, while my brother played those I didn't care for as well, overall I thought a decent purchase. But after having rented a ton of games, and finding that only a few more were worthy of buying, and suddenly feeling nostalgic for the older games, I tried getting back into the SNES again, got the redesigned version, a whole bunch of games, but not long after, when I'd gotten another NES, I ended up giving this SNES to my brother, along with the N64, and our old Playstation.

When I got back into the NES again, and for the final time, this was in August 1999. I got this one from one of my mom's ol' coworkers, had this stuff in her attic that used to be her daughters, she was going to throw it away, but remembered that my mom said that we, my brother and I, play videogames, so she asked her if we'd want it. My mom asked us, and of coarse the answer was yes, her coworker was just going to give it to us, but I said we should at least give her something for it, my mom gave her $20 from what I remember, this was for the NES system with controllers and Zapper, like 14 or so games, the Official Nintendo Players Guide, and various mix-matched instruction booklets, a good deal I'd say. I stuck with it ever since (9 and a half years later), have 385 games now.

But, when I got my current NES then, not long after, once I knew I was going to stick with it, I had decided that that's all I was going to focus on, no more wasting money on buying into the next new thing (particularly anything Nintendo put out), I was going to focus all my attention completely on the NES (its Nintendo, but the old Nintendo, when it was at its best). I stuck solely with the NES for 5 years, until August 2004 when I got back into the Playstation, and have and continue to collect and play games for both of these systems today. Anyway, being that my brother hardly played it, and I wasn't playing our other systems anymore, I made a deal with him, I keep the NES for myself, in exchange he got to have the SNES (our second one, the newer model), Playstation (our 3rd one, had to make a few exchanges due to system skipping or freezing games up, this one was good though), and N64, with all of their games, naturally he jump to that. Nowadays I somewhat regret this, but its because my brother is just so selfish.

Summer last year I acquired an SNES (my old one) and Genesis and a whole crapload of games for each, because my brother had been wanting to sell all his SNES and Genesis stuff for some time, stuff had been just sitting in boxes ever since the year prior in the middle of his room. Said he didn't need 'em anymore since he has 'em all in the form of roms, and that they take up too much space, and that there's no reason to collect for them anymore. He hadn't gotten around to selling them yet, seemed to me he never was, I wanted them, and if ever I had a job then I'd liked to had bought them off of him, but he refuses to sell them to me since we live in the same household and he wouldn't make anything off of them since all our expenses are combined. So I asked him, how 'bout an exchange, my PSone and games, as well as the PS2, plus I'll download for him all the roms I could get for every system, I'll give those to him for the SNES and all the games for it. Eventually he agreed to it, threw in the Genesis and all its games as well, for a total of 159 SNES games (of which most of those I bought for him over the years) and 105 Genesis games. He got my 78 PSone games and PSone with screen, as well as my PS2 and 1 single game I had for it, and thousands of roms which took many hours of my time to download for him.

But that SNES and Genesis collection that I thought I wanted so badly which I had traded my soul for, well not quite, but my PSone and PS2 and games to have, well a few months later, I didn't want it anymore. I asked my brother to take them all back, he can do whatever the hell he wanted with it all, I didn't care anymore, my brother was being a total jerk to me at the time (has been for years, but stopped talking to me then, and still hadn't for nearly a year, and still he goes through his fazes), so I really didn't want to have anything to do with him that he could use against me, throw it in my face for whatever reasons all his own form of logic, but really he's just an angry spiteful person. And I never really felt they were mine, sure the SNES was mine originally before I gave it to him back at the start of 2000, but I longed for my PS more than anything and totally feeling stupid for giving it up for systems that I hadn't cared about in many years, if barely at all as is the case with the Genesis since I'd never owned one before this. Both that and SNES have great games, but still the PS has always been my second favorite system right behind the NES, and I worked really hard to obtain the games that I have for it, and my brother doesn't care about any of it, he just took them as payment, afterall he has most of the games that I have for it. With all this for the SNES and Genesis having been obtained in what I feel as all too easy, I didn't think I earned the right to have them anyway.

He sold them all a few days later, I knew that's what he wanted to do. What I regret most about all this, the unappreciative jerk feeling that I owed him more, when in the end all I got was my stuff back, he got a ton of roms out of it and didn't have to waste his time downloading them. Boy was I stupid, you don't know how bad I wanted to go in his room and just snap all those discs in half that he's got them all saved on. Worst is that when he gave my PS games back, I got most of my stuff back, well except one game, Zero Divide which somehow he said he couldn't find, also before I checked over everything he'd forgotten to give me about 10 of them, I could tell he was going to try to get away with keeping a few, and I mentioned about when he finds Zero Divide that that one came in a long box, his response, "I'm keeping it." Yep, knew it, and bold son of a B was trying to upset me. But, instead of showing my anger, 'cause the little jerk is just trying to be spiteful, I said, "Oh, okay. I got another one anyway." In which I did, one that he had a long time ago that he was just going to throw away because its rather beat up and he wasn't collecting long boxes, yet somehow now he was. Later I went and took it back anyway, that is once I found my Zero Divide game which he put in the same case as his copy, which I saw him do to begin with when I gave my PS stuff to him, what'd he think I was, a moron, okay maybe I was for putting myself through all this. But that wasn't all, back in May, this year 2008, after I'd beaten Resident Evil 3, I'd looked at my disc, and then suddenly realized that it wasn't mine, it had a videostore label on it, which was the one I bought for my brother when I got a whole bunch of games for him when that place that I'd worked at had a going out of business sale years before, he gave me his copy because mine looked better, either that or he'd gone through my games later and switched them out. I promptly took that back.

I think that pretty much covers it all. I've been around, back and forth from one system and back to the previous one again, sometimes more than a few times, but nowadays I know where I stand, I think I've settle down finally. I have my NES and love it, put a lot of work, time and money into building up my collection, and have had hundreds of hours of gameplay (actually that'd probably be over a thousand hours), played every game I own, and beaten 2/3rds of them, I'm not getting rid of it ever again. I have my Playstation, got a lot of good games for that too and still have many more I want, and now have recently started getting PS2 games. I'm going to take my time, enjoy all of these for a while, if ever I get the next console, whether it be the PS3 or something else, it'll be many years from now, no rush. One thing that came out of me sticking with the NES for those 5 years from 1999 to 2004, it allowed me to find appreciation in enjoying all that one system had to offer, instead of moving on immediately when the newest console came out, I've become more patient, took my time, and when I was ready, I got the next console that I wanted to delve wholey into again, which was the PS. I nearly made a mistake over a year and half ago, I saw an opportunity to have more, all those SNES and Genesis games that my brother had, but more doesn't always equal happiness, particularly if you didn't really earn your right to have it, or it comes at a terrible cost. Keep your games and consoles (if you can), if you aren't playing them, store them away, never know when one day you'll want to go back and play them again, it'll cost you more if you get rid of or sell them, that is if later down the road you decide to get them again, but then, sometimes one has to learn the difficult way.

Oh wait, not done, there was a point many years back that I had given my brother all of my videogame magazines, thankfully I did end up getting my Nintendo Power magazines back, but what I regret are not being able to get back all the others (better yet I should've never trusted my brother, didn't know that once he got them that he'd never share them or let me look at them once in a while), EGM, PSM (loved this mag), Gamepro, lots of gaming magazines. And what has become of them? They've been stored away all these years, and my brother refuses to even let me look at them, ever.
