Have you ever been disappointed with a game ending?

You invest many hours beating a game only to be "rewarded" with an anti-climatic ending. Is there anything worse?

What are some of the most anti-climatic game endings you have experienced?

Though I have not personally played this abomination, the CD-i Zelda game must have one of the worst final boss battles and endings in video game history.

Yes... God of War 3 and Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit come to mind.

Medal of Honor, it was more sadness though.

I know people will disagree greatly with me on this one, but I really thought the ending of RDR was uber lame and just plain boring.

EDIT: In fact GTAIV's ending left me with much the same feeling of lameness.

Red Dead Redemption. 25 hours and one of the most anti-climactic endings I've ever encountered. Seriously... a bush by a river? That is the "epic" ending? The "first" ending wasn't too hot either.

Borderlands.

I also really hated the way Resident Evil 5 ended. Resident Evil games have a habit of ending "meh" anyway, what with the constant "what's going to happen next?" attitude they always have. But RE5... well that whole game was one painful disappointment.

Resistance 2 also.

Fallout 3's was a let-down.

Mirror's Edge, Oblivion and Bioshock are the ones that come to mind.

To name a few, Fable 3, Dead Rising, Alpha Protocol, and Borderlands

The latest Metal of Honor (mainly because it came so fast) and Dead Rising. Borderlands as well but I was kind of expecting it considering the amount the game centered around its end. Ended RDR at the 'shootout' and frankly didn't want to continue playing because *spoiler* is a tool and sounds epically bad on a horse.

Bioshock and Bioshock 2's endings were disappointing.

The Borderlands ending was even more soul crushing after I stood up a cheered when I beat the end boss. An experience notunlike the thankless ending to that little known shooter from the days of yore:

this is a terrible ending but, red dead: redemption.

Quite often, but I think the one that disappointed me the most was Wind Waker.MAILER_DAEMON

Really? I thought it had a great ending.

Anyway, I thought the the ending to Half Life 2 Episode 2 was very dissapointing and abrupt. I really don't like it when an ending purposley sets up for a sequel and leaves things unresolved.

Fallout 3's slide show ending and Serious Sam 2's pitiful pyramid boss fight along with another cliff hanger of you failing to kill Mental.

in terms of story : Alone in the Dark Inferno

i liked the game a lot and imo it had a good story until the end ( both of them ) they are simply the most **** ending ever

in terms of game play : Demon's Souls

it's about the final boss

for a game that is one of the hardest games this generation and a game that had a lot of hard bosses it has the easiest final boss ever !!!!!!!

i mean the only way you can lose is if you stand still and wait for it to kill you

What was wrong with Soul Reaver's ending?

Teddy Boy on the Sega Master System had a disappointing ending in that there was none. After playing through 50 identical levels you're rewarded with a black screen and have to reset to play again. I guess the developers never expected anyone to have as much patience as I did.

or probably Ghostbusters(NES) ending:

Halo 2, because it had no ending. It just stopped. Final Fantasy 7 also had a pretty horrible ending.

NES games knew how to have some pretty lame endings.

Vanquish because it ends on a cliffhanger and I'm pretty sure this game will not get a sequel since it didn't sell too well.

Bioshock because well the ending, didn't really even say anything, or go deeper in the story.

The ending of Borderlands really sucks, but otherwise it's fun to play.

Yeah, BioShock's good ending was really lame. It's the typical "and they lived happily ever after" crap. Then again, the story of BioShock already started making its nosedive about 2/3rds in, so I guess it was a logical way to conclude it.

BioShock 2 did a much better job at the endings.

I have been disappointed with some endings but I can't remember the games.

Half Life 2, Halo 2, Assassin's Creed and Bioshock had a disappointing ending.

fear 2. I was stunned at how nonsensical, anticlimactic, and short the ending was.

Jericho, I just wish there was an ending. The game just suddenly cuts off.
