Horror games have only suprised me (F.E.A.R, Condemned, Silent Hill 4) but I still haven't played a game that has scared or even startled me...yet.

Heart of Darkness for the PS1 scared me a lot when I was a kid. Generally does weird creatures that makes weird noices usually scare the living s*** out of me... Like the rats (or whatever they are) in Wind Waker... That cel-shaded game... you know on the forsaken fortress

Yes. Condemned: Criminal Origins scared the crap out of me. So much so I would once and awhile have to put it down to give my mind a break.

Nothing has scared me but plenty of games have really creeped me out. Some of these have been Condemned: criminal Origins, FEAR, and Doom 3 (say what you will but it had a few creepy parts),

Yes, I have zombie issues, so pretty much everything like Resident Evil and BioShock scares the crap out of me.

Yes, I know BioShock has mutated freaks, but they're pretty much lifeless husks bent on gaining a certain compound.

FATAL FRAME

Other than that, not really. Except for one certain part in Eternal Darkness... nearly gave me a heart attack. If you've ever played that game, you know what part I'm talking about.

I remember in Bioshock I was looking for supplies at a desk in the bloody dentist area and turned around and one of those splicers was standing behind me as quiet as could be, just standing there. I almost jumped out of my skin.

The old DOS game Uninvited. I had nightmares for a month because of that skeleton in the hallway. I'm not even joking. BTW I was 6 or so.

The beginning of Silent Hill 2, when you first roll into town, cause you have no means of weaponry, and monsters are everywhere.

Condemned: criminal origins; it was just a creepy game throughout.

FEAR, the first 3 missions or so were scary as hell.

Resident evil 2: when the zombie hands burst through the walls and try to grab you (you guys didnt jump at that when you were 8 years old?)

also, the first licker in RE 2, I was just like "oh crap..."

I was apprehensive about buying Bioshock but I completed it fine without getting scared. But my god, Condemned was scary, random, wrench-wielding hobo's and constant maniac attacks were bad...in a good way I guess :P.

Scissorman in Clock Tower on the PS1 scared me. I was running from him and I found a secret sort of hole in the floor, and when I opened it, he popped out!

Must have teleportation powers...

I found F.E.A.R quite freaky to play in the dark at night, I did it once and wont do it again, just sends my mind racing and seeing stuff that isn't there or moves suddenly in the dark made me jump sky high.

The Regenerators/Iron Maidens in Re4 and Resident Evil 1 remake, the mansion was creepy, crimson heads didn't make me feel any more welcome either.

They've given me an eerie uneasy feeling, but the only part to ever make me jump is on RE1 where the dogs jumped out in the first hallway. Mood and lighting, late at night, great memory.

yes .. first time must have been Max Payne (I was about 13)

It had a real immersive dreamy darkness to it ... I remember the part where Max goes to his house, looking for his wife & kids .. pretty scary

I havn't played any survival horror game before ..

Yeah a bunch of parts did it in Stalker, some of those creatures that rushed you while invisible then appeared at the last second, or that one that screwed with your mind while howling was really creepy too.

ooh good call. diablo 1 had a great darkness and sense of solitude and dread to it. i wasnt necessarily scared by it but it had a great atmosphere that made things tense.

Resident Evil could be freaky when things would jump out at you from no where. Half Life was never exactly scary but it always had an unnerving atmosphere. Similar games like FEAR tryed to mimick that.

the half life series were creepy, but not scary. FEAR was, to some extent, scary. Resident evil was awesome at scaring the crap out of you.
