Before I played Paper Mario 2's demo I thought it was a dumb game, but then I tried it out and ended up liking it.
Glad I did, otherwise I probably wouldn't have played Paper Mario.
Yeah Lord Of The Rings Conquest....thats the first demo i really enjoyed so i bought the game regardless of the reviews.....and im glad i did.
Yea demo's do convince me to buy a game. I played the audiosurf demo & world of goo demo & a couple of days later i brought them.
I don't need a demo to get excited about a game, but I always buy games whose demos impress me. A good demo can turn a game that wasn't on my radar into a must-buy for me. In the old days I spent a hundred bucks a year subscribing to the official mags of MS and Sony primarily so I could play demos.
LOL me 2 it has that same Battlefront mentality not to difficult but yet your always like 1 more game plz. Screw the reviews I love the game and its so easy to join servers. Im gonna buy it.Yeah Lord Of The Rings Conquest....thats the first demo i really enjoyed so i bought the game regardless of the reviews.....and im glad i did.

One of the first "demo" (called shareware back then) games I played on a PC convinced me to buy it. I played Doom Shareware and after 10 min I knew I would have to buy that game. I had the same feeling when I plaed the sharewar version of Duke Nukem 3d.
(** If you want to try my game "Exhaust" for Xbox Live Arcade the demo is HERE)
I honestly think game companies would be better off NOT releasing demos. Sometimes demos can work to convince the potential buyer (I played the Two Worlds demo, thought it sucked for 10 minutes but after giving it a try for over an hour I got hooked and bought it).
But honestly, I would rather buy a game off the shelf without knowing much about it except the screenshots on the back. It makes me more excited to pop it in the console and try it out. Demos can sometimes be a turn off to a game at first and since you didn't spend money to get it, you just think 'whatever I'm not really liking it right now so forget it', but if you buy a game you kind of force yourself to go through it and alot of the times you will be glad you did.
Other than that, renting games would make me buy them in the older days.
there was a lot of demos i ended up buying the games, for,
first one would be condemened i play the demo then the next day, i picked that up
for 360
and wwe smackdown vs raw 200 7 -2008 also 2009 lol
saints row as well ,
games that turned me off was resistance,
and motorstorm
The original Tony Hawks demo on PS1 certainly convinced me to buy the full game the next day, and stands out as I would never have considered the game otherwise. It was almost a standalone game in itself. Demos are part of what helps me make a decision but rarely the sole reason for a purchase.
C-12 Final Resistance (PS1)
God of War (PS2)
Yes, a demo has convinced me to buy a game on 2 occasions.
Oh, there was also another PS1 demo that helped me find a game but I never bought it, I only rented it. I want to say Freedom Fighters but that's not true. It was a 2 player game that let you pick 4 different people. They fight and use weapons and whatnot. My memory of it is fuzzy but I do remember there was a big guy, the first level you could get hit by cars and the second level was on a train. Whenere I find it I forget about it again.:x

Good point.
The fantastic demo of SKATE made me buy the game at the release date. Can't think of any other ones.
I bought Final Fantasy X and it had a bonus dvd with it. On it was a video of Kingdom Hearts, not playable but the video alone made me buy it on release day!!
Probably 1 of only 3 games that i bought full-price on day of release!!
The SWAT 4 and Far Cry demos did. I played the SWAT demo almost as much as the actual game...
Also the MoH: AA and CoD 2 demos.
