Games with the highest quality cutscenes

What games have the best quality cutscenes that wowed you so much that you thought it would have been good enough to have been in movies?

modern warfare...a lot of the MGS cutuscenes are really shot well too

Halo Wars while ugly for the most part had some really pretty cutscenes.

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core has the CG from the Advent Children Movie. So it is actually REALLY awesome for the PSP. :P

1- Uncharted and Resident Evil 5. They look and feel like big budget hollywood movies.

2 - Heavenly Sword. It's second, only because it's so overacted (which was done on purpose I should add.) Probably the best facial animation ever.

3 - Metal Gear Solid 4. A bit too melodramtic at times, but then there are times where it's so epic and thrilling that it puts even the best hollywood action movies to shame. I hate to put it below games like Uncharted, RE5 and Heavenly Sword, but the editing and long winded speeches are more in line with TV shows than Hollywood movies. If I were to just pick the action sequences, it blows away the competition.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the Finaly Fantasy series yet. Those games always have some of the best CGs each gen. Look at FFX, FFX-2, and FFXII. They're from last gen and their cutscenes are still better than most of what we've seen this gen.

Agreed. Even to this day, I still get blown away by great the cutscenes look. But I believe FFXIII comes pretty close to matching the quality of the CGs from previous installments.

MGS series, KOTOR's were awesome, Halo Wars are the best looking video game cutscenes I've seen so far (for consoles of course) and yes I have Killzone 2.moose_knuckler

ouch dude, that's harsh. the fact that the cutscenes had in-game graphics has nothing to do with anything. in fact i prefer that it was in-game, less jarring if you ask me. that said, the cutscenes i think are movie-worthy because they pulled me in so well and were amzingly visceral, which is more than i can say for most MGS series cutscenes. plus i think you're confusing genericness with starightfowardness. true COD4's story wasn't to complex, but it sure as hell was well written and engaging.

Wait, come to think of it, did COD4 even have cutscenes? I think it was all real-time scripted events, except for the loading screen dilaogues, right? Why did anyone mention the game in this thread to begin with?

the lost odyssey cutscenes were very good imo.

Well, it is pretty cliché, but MGS is a heavy contender. The game is a cinematic masterpiece (imo).

I'll go with those who mentioned Heavenly Sword - I'm still awed by the quality of the facial animations in particular, especially Bohan.

MGS4 and Uncharted 2

Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and, especially 4 (I'm one of those who played MGS4 then bought the MGS essential collection, I'm about halfway through MGS 2, that's why MGS 3 isn't there.

CoD4's were pretty nice too. I loved Bioshock's too (Would you kindly? anyone?)

I disagree.WoW has a cuscene in WotLK and it's terrible looking.

MGS was awesome for its cutscenesand that cutscene in halo wars where forge kills the arbiter was just really smooth for some reason...

MGS games.

MGS series (MGS3: Snake Eater specificall) cut scenes were beautiful.

Also, those of Army of two were crafted extremely well, and i'd have to say Final Fantasy, for the obvious reasons.
